Has been passed in pubs and clubs today,

Hmm, dunno why that doesnt come up in "link format" if ya know what I mean, anyway, I'll try again...

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/4709258.stm

Nope, stil not working, anyway, go to the bbc website and you'll find it easy enough.

So what do you think about it? I personall, (being an asthmatic non smoker) am clearly in favour of it. I really cant agree with the people who say "I want to be able to go out for a drink and enjoy a smoke without being told I cant do it". Well, now I can go out and enjoy a drink without being forced to breath in your second hand crap that I didnt want to breathe in in the first place but had it inflicted upon me! Grrr :shooter: I'm sure you get my drift, which basically is if you want to smoke, then fine, smoke, but I dont want to so dont make me.

Fairs fair dontcha think?

I thank you s04pb0x6

Iv not seen the link, but as a smoker I try my best not to upset non smoker's. But why is it when there is a smoking area allowed it's crammed packed full of non smokers but the non smoking area has no one in it?

Simple, because the non-smokers are suffering it where ever they sit inside the building.
Also because the company they are with are too selfish to refrain from smoking for one evening that the non smoker is FORCED to go with them to continue the socialising.

Been there toooooooo many times..

Sooo, reviewing the British way of life......

Not allowed to speak your mind in print ( wintness the editor of private eye ! )

Cameras just about everywhere watching you

Secret police tapping your fone without need of a court order

Govt telling huge lies and just getting away with it

Soon to have to BUY at considerable personal expense, an ID card that it will be illigal to read from unless you are autherised to do so ( which means they can out ANYTHING they want on it )

Cannot get confirmation but have heard that soon a brit passport will require more paperwork than any other country in the world to obtain, and will be more expensive than anywhere else

Sooo,,, Anyone fancy Russia ? A little more personal freedom and privacy there and a lot less restrictions !!

And if you think that's bad John you should see the rigmorole we have to go through just to get into work.
It has been muted today that the Security Governor is going to ban women from wearing underwire bras and only allow them in if they are wearing sports bras, because the wire sets off the metal detectors.

nobody with their own mind is forced to socialise.

?8bn in tax versus ?1.5bn in nhs treatment = minus ?6.5bn if all smokers give up which we will not, peeps are saying that 60% of people will give up because of this.

in early 70's 82% of men smoked now it is around 25% yet cancer and other so called smoking deaths were around the same.

please explain somebody.

ban farting, perfume, sweat, alcohol, also lets talk about noise population pubs are full of pricks who force you to listen to their crap all night, ban them as well.

ban motorbikes, cause they are noisy and kill themselves.

Ban everything because somebody somewhere will take offense over it.

I still have the right to this opinion dont I??? or has that been banned as well??

It may seem that way, but I am quite happy to nip out side in all weathers for quick fix (for want of a better word) at the end of the day RHINO 'John' if I / we are making it uncomfortable just try telling us (in a polite way) to move away, we will understand or go out side.

You know, I was SURE I read somewhere that the Nazi's lost ?

Obviously only the war,... they have now taken over the world by stealth...

( and this is not insensative to our german members.. the Nazi's were a different breed,, nothing like any German I have ever met in all my travels all over Germany ! )

doh!c7u8 socialize with non smokers then:rolleyes:

to be honest i cant see why the ban affects your everyday old codgers pub! you know the type, full of old guys who were shat upon during the war and buttf#cked ever since. they religiously spend a few hours with their mates over a pint and a full pipe, if the entire establishment is happy to remain unchanged and no ones getting their lungs assaulted who's got the right to rob the guys of the little excess they can afford?

non smokers have the right to spend offtime in a smoke free zone(i agree), thanks to our asswipe politicians double glazing salesmen will be able to sue the poor bastid who's evening they disturbed on a cold call claiming his hallway was full of cig smoke:m

good looking AND modest
as a non smoker myself I think its a bit much "total ban" :t they should kick the bloody kids out of pubs first, I agree that a night "socialising" in smokers company does leave my clothes hair etc stinking, but those are just a couple of things I'm willing to put up with for the sake of the "good company" :dunno: now if I'm eating thats another thing!! I agree with a total ban then, not that most of the people I associate with would be so insensitive and try and smoke whist I was eating!!

My wife is a smoker, If we are at my daughters house Bev goes outside for a cig, if we are at a friends house Bev goes outside for a cig, if we are at a dinner party somewhere Bev goes outside for a cig, so why does she insist on smoking in our house
