Forum abuse [official request]

Had some serious discussion with JAWS tonight [Sunday] re forum abuse / thread hijacking / pi$$ taking etc

He claims that peeps are put off / leave / won't post because of all the [alledged crap that we three [Bert Lumpy and Rhino] post

I disagree counter-claiming that it's this type of banter that keeps out forum alive and not so boring as the BMW / VFR sites!!

He had to agree to disagree

BUT

To put JAWS theory to the test, I have agreed on behalf of all 3 of us [Bert Rhino Lumpy] to refrain from abuse and thread hijacking from now until the end of July - just to prove the theory

Lets see wether we get new members / posters?

Would be an intersting experiment so I'm [officially] asking you both if you'll join with me in being sensible for 3 weeks?

I had a mail from Wiz containing the text of a mail from someone else..
Wiz ( and for what its worth me ) thought pisstaking is often mistaken for nasty abuse by those who do not know, so I suggested to Bert that it might be an idea to either have a seperate forum on here for abuse ( which could be pretty funny )
or perhaps it would be an idea to ask peeps not to hijack threads and turn everyone into a banter fest. ( or words to that effect )

Next thing I know is every one is throwing their toys outa the pram and getting all upperty..

Thats about all I have to say on the whole thing.. A HUGE todo about very little !

:bow: I couldn't agree more. There is nowt wrong with the current setup. I have never met Lumpy, Rhino,Bert,Jaws ,Frenchuk and others who make this site worth setting as my home site, but it is obvious from a lot of the "slagging" that goes on that many peeps on here are friends and with rare exceptions, ( some peeps just ask for it) no "outsider" is subjected to any pseudo hostility. It ain't broke so don't fix it. :t

It is also informative, and the people who partake in making this website what it is are helpful beyond belief. I for one do not take offence at what is clearly banter and so what if now and then banter turns a bit fierce,It's life jim. Couldn't agree more - the Coffee Shop is there for general banter, piss taking and opinions. If the opinion doesn't match yours, either argue constructively until you agree to disagree, or just go to another thread, move on, let it go etc. Personally, if the opinion doesn't match mine then it's wrong anyway so why take any notice of it :} :}

I've had a fair bit of help off peeps on this site. When you genuinely need help and ask someone for it, then the piss-taking stops and the assistance starts.

Also, it's kept me sane at work for the last few weeks when I've had bugger all to do and have faced a redundancy situation - not what you want with a bloody great mortgage that's under a year old!!
