"Personal" plates

It never ceases to make me laugh the way that people put spurious "personal" plates on their cars that are supposed to mean something.
We get them in all the time at the Vauxhall main dealer where i work.
I dont mean the good ones - a lady up the road has AUD1R on her Audi spaced as AUDI R which is ok & lots of Astra & Corsa VXRs come in with VXR plates. A friend on mine - Andy West, has AWE5T on his car spaced A WE5T which is quite good & my old Saab t9-5 had T95 before the letters, but its the crappy ones that im on about.

For example, a girl just came in with a new Corsa - should be on a 13 plate. Her name is Kylie(really). Her plate CAllEYX. WTF? How does that spell Kylie? All thats done is make her car look 2 years older than it is!
There was a bird in yesterday in an Astra called Saskia. Her plate SA51EKA. Again, her 2 year old car was suddenly an 11 year old car.

Each to their own. I just hope these people dont pay too much for these laughable plates. . .

:dunno:Each to their own, wasn't impressed with your plate as it appens!!:dunno: but as long as the owners are happy, and the coppers can still read it, who cares??:dunno:

Not saying it was impressive, but as per the VXR plates, if the plate says VXR & so does the badge on the boot lid ( T95 on the plate & t95 on the boot badge - it was on there when i bought the car), you can almost see the point - if thats your thing.

I was referring to these plates that mean absolutely nothing at all to anyone & the only person that knows what its supposed to be about is the owner & all they achieve by fitting them is to make their car look older than it is.

There can't be anything quite as sad as someone with the make or model of their car on their number plate. We all know you have a worthless old Porsche Boxter, putting a ?100 plate that says "BOX" on it isn't fooling anyone. If you can't afford your initials and a single digit, dont bother.

This always amuses me. Did Andy sometimes forget his name while driving and have to step out of the car for a reminder? WTF is the point of having a 'personal' plate? I don't mind distinctive plates but 'personal' plates are normally attached to vehicles driven, or ridden, by W ANK 3R5.

many moon's ago all the coaches in Kent all had private plates on

as some one in Kent county council come up with a plan that you could not tender for the school runs if the coaches were older than 5 years old so all they did was put private plates on

And no one from KCC did the follow up to cheek they would just accept it if you said they were all under 5 years old......

Not sure I can strung up over people making their cars look older. I have a 1996 "P" plate with two numbers and my initials on my six month old car. My bezzy mate has an 06 plate on his 12 plate car. In a lot of cases, it's plainly obvious to a blind man on a galloping horse that the age of the car is not commensurate with the plate.

I do agree that the plates that are supposed to look like something they ain't are pointless and just make the driver look retarded. I know a guy at home that calls himself Spike. His registration? S21PKE. :wank: He wasn't amused when I said it was more likely people would think his name was Pikey.

His burd is called Julia and he bought her a plate J11YLA.

Still, as you say, each to their own.
