Parsley the lion

Come on Richard

Parsley the lion was in fact in ........THE HERBS

'Im a very friendly Lion called Parsley,
Im glad you popped round to say Hello'

Among his friends were Lady Rosemary, '(my name is Lady Rosemary, I am tall and willowy..')
Sir Basil (King of the Herbs) ('I am Sir Basil..King of the Herbs')
Dill the dog ("My name is Dill...Dill the dog..")

A top show !

If you remember way back when....AND recall 'Torchy, Torchy the Battery boy, Im your walking talking toy'.

Yes... Camberwick Green and Trumpton had Windy Miller and we must not forget 'Pugh, Pugh, Barney Magrew, Cuthbert, Dibble and Grubb...!'

Those were the days ! Jumpers for goalposts !

Oh dear... I now this is gonna REALLY show my age !

Space Patrol
Twizzle
Four Feather Falls ( somethone and his magic six gun )
Torchy
Popeye
Liked doing the Blue Peter projects ( Yer, sad bastard ! )
Bill and Ben of course...
Lupiloo and Andypandy
Road Runner ( still LOVE that cartoon !! )
Oh and oddly enough I liked 'Take Five'
Other old farts will know what that was, but for the young whipper snappers.......
In the early days of ITV there was often not enough adverts booked to fill the time gap.. SO they would stick a thing on called Take Five which was litterly that.. a 5 minute filler.
Consisted of music and some footage which was sometimes weird/funny/ downright odd !

... was that the bloody potters wheel thingy? and the London to Brighton Express?

And it was Looby Loo anyway.

Anybody remember Michael Bentine's Bumblies? They slept on the ceiling of course. Or his Flea Circus?

I enjoyed all the Watch with Mother progs (Andy Pandy, Rag,Tag & Bobtail, The Woodentops, Bill & Ben) except Picture Book. The narrator was Patricia Driscoll (you lads may remember her later as Maid Marion in Robin Hood*) because she was extremely condescending and I didn't appreciate that, even before I was 5 and went to school so missed WWM.

* First prog ever to be aired on ATV Midlands in 1956 (a Milestone that, a bit like Flowers in the Rain, 30 September 1969) (or was it 67?)

Later when I was at senior school, my dad used to come home early on a Wednesday so he could watch Top Cat! I loved Benny ....

Before that there was only Listen with Mother ' .... and when the music stops, Dorothy Oxenford will be here to read you a story'.

Then there was Anthea Mills with the grand piano and that Mule whose name I shall not relate for fear of reprisals. Not to mention Hank. (and 'I'm Mexican Pete the Sombrero') And what was that thing with Charlie Drake? - Mick & Montmorency?

I'm older than I look!

Davie W....

I think Aunt Sally was from Worzle Gummage.

Cat Weasle had a frog or toad called......... Touch wood or somthing similar.

What about Please Sir,
What was the follow on program called, The Fen Street gang or something...?

And there were them European series' like: Bell and Sebastian, Heidi, etc. where the dubbing was so out. I'm sure that they based the Martial Art films on them...
