A little more progress
But mainly unseen ….
A slight blow from the exhaust from central resonator box …. Was going to victim it off and replace with either a straight through OR a cherry bomb resonator
Started cutting the rot out and found it was only a couple of inches and the rest is solid
So a quick patch and exhaust gum to fill the gaps …. Looking good …. And more importantly sounding better !!

I also started to coat the underside with Lanoguard ….(modern day waxoil) Looks much better and hopefully will help it last a bit longer too
Only the rear end done so far …. As it’s on axle stands for the exhaust work !!
I will be raising the rear adjustable shocks by about an inch. To give it a more level look …. I lowered the rear quite a bit (probably a bit too much)
And I’ve got wider spacers to put on the rear currently 15 mm but going to 30mm (insurance know about all these mods !)

Really want to get these side pipes fitted soon too …. But may need a good welder and plenty of metal plates to make up brackets !!
(This may wait a bit )

Half a day today, despite the great weather I had a few things to do and took awhile to get my Ar$3 in gear !!

Put on some decent 30mm spacers on the rear (I didn’t realise it had a 20mm and 10mm already on (I forgot !)
So to make the most of an opportunity…. I put the 30mm AND a 20mm on ..
Just wondering if they look too much ??
What do you reckon ??

The rolling radius is just about covered !!!

Too much for me. More suited to a 1970s Hillman Hunter.

Agreed, to me just slightly inboard of the top of the arch looks best.

But, it's your ideal that's important

Having had a sleep …. I’m rethinking the 50mm spacer idea.
Will try 40mm and if all else fails …. Back to 30mm !
The retro 70-80’s look doesn’t really suite the rest of the build

THANKYOU for your honest opinions

I like the setting in the top picture, post #222.

I love that your car is the same colour as my Panzer (y)

Even at 30mm I would be concerned at the life expectancy of the wheel bearings to be honest

Absolutely …. If it was my daily driver …. But it’s a fun toy ?? It won’t be driven hard, it will be like me on the Bird…. Driving Miss Daisy :)
Doubt I will do much more than 3000 miles a year ??

For appearances ….
I’ve gone for ….. 40mm on the rear and 20mm on the front
Seems to fill the arches nicely
Will worry about tyre/ bearings/stone chips later, but at the moment …. It’s MUCH better than it was previously with the rears spaced out only

Hoping this picture is the correct way around ??

A little more assembly today …. Quite like the look of the front !!

Front end on ramps later in the week to Lanoguard the front end and clean up any rusty spots, and plan the MOT

I’ve been suffering with an upper pulmonary infection (tested negative for covid 5-6 times) so I was unable to do any work on my project !

I had booked it in for a pre MOT test today, which was booked a while ago
Comment from the mot inspector was …. ‘It is so well sorted you might as well do a proper MOT test ‘
So I sat and waited ….for quite a wile
He came back into the office and said…. I adjusted your headlights as they were a little low …But it passed the MOT with NO advisories

I was like a Cheshire Cat driving home !! Happy days !!
The car tax was a bit of a shocker tho !!
So it’s ready ready to enjoy the summer cruising!!

Sidepipes can wait a little …. As they are going on eventually .. but sun is shining and I’m off for a little drive to reap my rewards after the months of spending and graft !
Pics to follow but I took this yesterday …700AC0D8-7088-4F81-8B31-B11D6E54AA5F.jpeg
