Firstly i am a SHE, not a HE.

I was acting on instructions from someone higher up the ladder and did as i was asked.

If you have a problem with the way i dealt with it then i suggest you contact one of the admin team instead of resorting to personal insults on a public forum.

Calling me names and making assumptions about me on an open forum is how kids would act.
Fair point That I didn't know your gender, or you at all. I have already adimtted that my initial reaction was a little rash, I shouldn't have made it personal.

BUT the fact still remain, I was trying to get a couple of mates to join the site, and offered to advertise their bikes on my account ( as a Bikers Oracle Sponsor) as is generally acepted practice across the board.

It is the manner in which the action was taken which infuriated me not the reason behind it. (although there are consistency issues with this too)

I still think this is one of the best sites out there, but feel some of these arbitary rules and differences of application will only serve to ailienate current and prospective members.

Once again lets get away from the "personal" (even though I did cause it) and focus on the policy and common sense.

Fair enough you've paid your dues but selling someone elses bike on their forum when their rules state you can't do that is not on, put the bike on BO Central, job done

And you going back on the site and abusing her for doing her job just isn't on TBH it made you look like a total
wanka%20smilie.gif

I'm sure that anyone who came into the coffee shop and as a first post was trying to sell something would get pretty short shrift

I now sit back and await the abuse d04l1ng
1, abuse was wrong Ive dealt with this and won't try to explain any further

2, Yes Ive paid my dues. To Bikers Oracle not a specific site!

3, Your correct, if someone with no prior relationship/ membership with the site tries to advertise, it shouldn't be allowed. As a sponser and previously super sponsor, I should have the RIGHT to advertise on the site where I see fit. Afterall, I am not trying to promote a business or make any personal gain from this, just trying to gat the product to the relevant audience.

4, I DID put these on Bikers Oracle Central, but the seem to have "Disappeared" (someones nose out of joint I presume?)

Part Time Pilot.

Please read my post #12.

It is NOT generally accepted practise to advertise bikes for someone who is not a Sponsor. If someone repeatedly does so they risk being banned.

There are, as I said previously, very few rules, and apart from a few minor differences (in particular applying to the Bird site due to how it was incorporated into Bikers Oracle) the rules are the same for every single person. Many other forums have far stricter rules with regards to advertising.

Our policies are simple, clearly laid out and easy to follow.

It's fine to disagree with the rules, we all disagree with some of them no doubt, I'd probably agree with you on this one. But while the rules are there they must be applied equitably to all.

No, just that they are still outside the selling rules. Maybe you should actually read the post from Wiz that Goff linked to when she explained her reasons for editing your post?

PTP, wind you neck back in. Like youve been told if you are going to flog someone elses gear on another forum, you can at least have the common courtesy to check their forum rules first.
(We ALL know the blackbird forum is different from the others when it comes to selling) Oh do WE? Where is this interesting fact published?

Only your advert was deleted NOT your POST. Ah it was when I questioned it (you must be personally involved with a moderator or admin to konw this!

SHEnot he was well within their rights to do so, she is most definatly not power hungry. In fact quite a likeable person indeed.
So you were totally out of order to say what you said about HER. :wank:

If your mates were that keen to flog their bikes they could have joined and done it themselves. Check, covered already, cant you read?
Also I saw the ads and information on them was very sparse indeed for that kind of money I would be looking for a lot more details (see MCN or Auto Trader for examples on how to do it properly).(what has this got to do with the issue?)

IF YOU ACT LIKE A 5YR OLD YOULL GET TREATED ONE. (Ditto)

You act like a typical prison warden( well the ones i have met anyway, Apologies to the good ones). Thank goodness they keep you in an office and away from the prison population with an attitude like that youd cause a riot.

Sorry, I hadn't realised that we had met and that you were so well versed in Scottish Prison Service Policy let alone being so well versed on what "A Typical Prison WARDEN acts like"
Please tell me What exactly is a Prison Warden?

MMM maybe they should let you out maybe help reduce some of that population :} :}
Apart from that Fink, who the feck are you anyway? I don't recall you being an active member on here before:dunno:

Parttimepilot, do you really want a discussion about this? If you do, have a think about the way you are doing this, how you look and how the other forums have agreed to have things sold. Then construct your complaint rather than explode and just keep on exploding.

Are you helping to moderate any of the forums because if you do then you should understand a little about what happens and goes on. Rules exist to protect the many not because someone is acting with supreme power. Goff performed the role she does on that site because she is a core part of is. Without knowing anything about it, you have the ignorance to start a fight about it. Not content with insulting her on the other site you then chose to start it again on here, keep trying and you might just find a few people who agree with you but it doesn't change the fact that Goff was acting consistently with the way the rest of the sites are moderated.

Do some research or understand someone properly before you judge them.
My first post on the Bird site, what a damn shame. :bang:
Cal,
The issue really should be that as a sponsor for 4+ yaers, although I usually only frequent the Bird site, Should I really have to think there are different rules for each forum?

And yes I do think this should be discussed, in open

Hah! I find that statement a bit ironic coming from you! The words pot, kettle and black spring to mind.

Just remind us again about the simple and easy to follow rules regarding anonymous cross forum moderation and thread deletion.... :-0)

As has already been explained it was me that questioned your post, the admins who made a decision on it, Goff merely followed through on that as she was online at the time.
Actually I thought Goff was remarkably restrained. I took great exception to you dropping straight to personal insults because you were asked to abide by the rules of Oracle.Go back and look again - so did Goff! :rolleyes:What's that got to do with the price of fish? You still have the same rules applied to you as anyone else. :dunno:
That is genuinely a shame, but it's not our fault that you spat the dummy and tried to start a fight over nothing mate.We have, we did, there is. Whether or not every person agrees with every single rule surely you must accept that the rules should be applied consistently to every member?Well ... no I'm going to bite my tongue... no sod it - you're the one who descended to playground behaviour in response to a sensible and polite post by Goff.Done. ;)
1, have you nothing better to do than run to admin when you see such a flagrant abuse of the rules?

2, Abuse dealt with, there is a common curyousy issue here

3,Who are you to "take great exception"? you have the same facility to pm and ask for a retraction. In hindsight I would have done so

4, Spit the dummy, Don't make me laugh. I reacted (albeit in a pertially inappropriate way) to a completely inconsistent application of the "Rules"

5, Nah sod it your self- the play ground mentality is for moderators ( valuntary or not) to take a nanny state approach to policing the site. Fer christ sakes we have enough of this in society.

6, DONE? Well you've shown your charachter loud and clear.

But I am a sponsor. Unless you have another view, If so we could discuss Debit payments and other financial records:dunno:

I have obviously violated the rules with thetruly hineous crime of placing an advert.

No I must admit I didnt bother reading the link as I honestly believe what you are saying. Its the application and consistency that is a pain.

Had I known this would be such a hassle I would have advised the guys to register, post and advertise themselves.

Just appears the rules have managed to over rule common sense

Right so Im being threatened with being banned now am I?

For trying to promote the site, assist a couple of colleagues, and offering a product to the likely audience?

If that really is the case, then fook it. Ban away I hope it makes you feel better ( and a little more important)

Having myself suffered the wrath of Goff (clingon joke h1d1ng2(well we are on the bird forum :-0))) for the same reason as Neil I must admit that I was very miffed at the time at the way my post was dealt with. No disrespect to Goff as I have learnt later that she was only doing what was asked of her..

Clive has said that opinions will be listened to... well heres mine...

If someone was putting on about 5 bikes a week/ month or whatever .. fair enough ..

but when someone is putting one on for a friend about once every blue moon then its a different story..

The reason I wanted to put my mates bike on here was ..

The bike was an absolute minter which I would have liked /prefered one of my fellow Bird/ oracle members to have first dibs at, instead of it going to a stranger..
I feel that its a shame that members are not allowed a chance when a bike like that one comes along..

it should be looked on as a members privilage/ benefit of membership, to get first chance on a bike thats for sale not deleted and disregarded as a 'law breaker'..

moderate the posts first and then make a decision wether to delete or not.. dont just disregard them because the only people that are loosing out are our fellow members d34l

No disrespect meant or intended Goff .. not aimed at you personally mdear :k

Thanks mate,

The reason we were both dealt with so harshly was that we were TRUTHFUL in siting that these were not the actual owners of the said objects.

If we were of the shifty fraternity and claimed these items were ours, who would have had an issue?:dunno:

Neil, this is no longer a serious BIKE site, it's just a piss take forum and they have been taking the piss out of you. Sad to say, I don't consider this a bike forum any longer, just a place to have a bit of banter with people who just happen to ride bikes.

Our site thrives on that...as one of us said many moons ago...there is only so much you can say about bikes, then you have to talk about something else, we do, we're mates...

Yes, the 'bird site does but BO as a site is lacking I feel. As a PAN owner as well as a bird, I find the PAN site lacking in everything, banter and bike issues. Some times no one posts on there for days on end.
