Moderating in Moderation?

As some of you will have noted I placed an ad in the for sale section for a couple of close mates bikes.

I also placed these on the Triumph site and the CBR600 site. along with Bikers Oracle Central.

Some reprobate going by the name of GOFF simply deleted the ad in the CBR6 sit without any warning, in adition to this both ads have been removed from Bikers Oracle Central.

I think he might have taken exception to being called an Ar*eh*le though I doubt it would have been the first time with the way he moderates....

Soup Dragon edited the popst on the St site, and at least has the common sense and decency to post a reason for this.

He states as detailed in the attachment that "Forum rules mean adverts go on Central not here, and that only Sponsors can use that facility and cannot sell bikes for others.

So If I am not a sponsor, where has my ?15 a year gone? As discussed by Jaws on several occasions it does not go to the Bird site, but to BO.

OK I was up front stating these were friends bikes, and I was trying to encourage them to join the site.

I dont think that will happen now.

I could have placed the ads as being my bikes (who would know?) like I am sure many others do.

I would encourage the moderators and Forum Admins to get together and put in place a fair and consistent policy on these types of issues.

Crap like this really makes me wonder if I should be investing my hard earned in supporting a site that tries to teach loyal members like 5 year olds.

Fair enough you've paid your dues but selling someone elses bike on their forum when their rules state you can't do that is not on, put the bike on BO Central, job done

And you going back on the site and abusing her for doing her job just isn't on TBH it made you look like a total

I'm sure that anyone who came into the coffee shop and as a first post was trying to sell something would get pretty short shrift

Firstly i am a SHE, not a HE.

I was acting on instructions from someone higher up the ladder and did as i was asked.

If you have a problem with the way i dealt with it then i suggest you contact one of the admin team instead of resorting to personal insults on a public forum.

Calling me names and making assumptions about me on an open forum is how kids would act.

(We ALL know the blackbird forum is different from the others when it comes to selling)

Also I saw the ads and information on them was very sparse indeed for that kind of money I would be looking for a lot more details (see MCN or Auto Trader for examples on how to do it properly).

You act like a typical prison warden( well the ones i have met anyway, Apologies to the good ones). Thank goodness they keep you in an office and away from the prison population with an attitude like that youd cause a riot.

Parttimepilot, do you really want a discussion about this? If you do, have a think about the way you are doing this, how you look and how the other forums have agreed to have things sold. Then construct your complaint rather than explode and just keep on exploding.

Are you helping to moderate any of the forums because if you do then you should understand a little about what happens and goes on. Rules exist to protect the many not because someone is acting with supreme power. Goff performed the role she does on that site because she is a core part of is. Without knowing anything about it, you have the ignorance to start a fight about it. Not content with insulting her on the other site you then chose to start it again on here, keep trying and you might just find a few people who agree with you but it doesn't change the fact that Goff was acting consistently with the way the rest of the sites are moderated.

Do some research or understand someone properly before you judge them.

Firstly, apologies to Jaws and onther site Admins/Mods fro jumping in here, but this has been brought to my attention and needs dealing with.

PTP - we have very few rules on all of our sites, but what we do have we expect people to adhere to. The forum rules for selling are very clear, all adverts go in Central, nowhere else. Also, adverts should be for your own items, no-one elses. These are there in black and white, clearly stated.

Goff was only doing what she is asked to do as a Moderator, the same as any other Moderator would have done. All the Mods are volunteers, they look after the sites giving up their own free time to do so. Your attitude to Goff is unacceptable. If you have a problem with her, or any other Mods actions, you should contact one of the Admins and discuss it with them.

Publicly insulting anyone, let alone a Moderator will not be tolerated on our sites. If that's how you behave on the Bird site then that's up to your Admins. It's not how we expect guests to behave when they do visit another forum.

I suggest you apologise to Goff, she will, I'm sure, appreciate it.

Note the bold/underlines - Goff is a lady, in case you haven't noticed by now.

Everyone else, please do not let this thread become a slanging match, if you have an opinion fine, but as I said personal insults will not be tolerated. If anyone has a problem with this please e-mail me directly:

you are totally out of order abusing anyone and calling goff an arsehole is not acceptable
you broke the rules and got moderated end of story

As has already been explained it was me that questioned your post, the admins who made a decision on it, Goff merely followed through on that as she was online at the time.
