Hi all
Thanx so much for all the well wishes. We did think this was the last of three rubbish things to happen, but Melz mum is visiting tomorrow - so I'm going out!!!!!!!
Anyway - update
She still can't remember what happened, but it appears to be a lowside on the left, although the helmet has scratches and damage on both sides, the visor and the top. The split is behind the joint for the flip front, so that bit didn't give. My feeling is that she smacked her head on the kerb. We are wondering if an animal ran out in front of her and she braked and washed out the front, But its all guess work due to memory loss. The ambulance notes suggested (and the police said) that she was knocked out for about 3 -4 minutes, which I think I quite a long time. They then pumped her full of morphine - just to prevent anyone finding out if she had a head injury
I didn't know any of this had happened - virtually outside the house - until I left to get some bike bits and saw her bike being guarded by a police car waiting for a recovery truck. Luckily I managed to persuade them to wheel the bike to the front of the house so Melz can decide later if she wants to fix it or go through the insurance - more luckily cos her hand bag and phone etc was in the top box!!
She was totally out of it when I got to the hospital, but apart from a little scare due probably to dehydration, shock and SHIIITE loads of pain relief, she brightened up pretty well. So they've sent her home.
And me being the caring buddy that I am is going out dancing!!!!!! (probably! maybe!!)
Main downers from today (as told by Melz) -
Bike jacket cut off (only worn about twice before)
Lid trashed - brand new the other week
Favourite jumper removed with scissors
No tattoo - thats where she was going - she appears most P'd off at missing this appointment!!!
bike duffed up - but fixable
Had two dates lined up today - am and pm. Missed both
Third date tomorrow - probably missing that
Parents visiting tomorrow - I'm off out!!!
Good thing -
She's ok, apart from the broken collarbone
She's currently asleep on the sofa - although not for long as the angle does not look comfortable, so if she's gonna sleep, she best be in bed I reckon!!! (I'm just soooo caring - not!)
I 'think' she's just out and out knackered from shock and pain relief - a day in A&E is not exactly calming.
The Doc did confirm that the CT scan showed a brain (we did ask for a second opinion) and they don't believe she has a 'head injury' as such. But to be knocked out like she was is obviously a bit of a shock.
Thanx again - I'll point her in the direction of this thread when she's awake and composmentis (or however you spell that!! :-0))
