Good knews and it keeps going forward.

Cent if I can offer a positive note of caution. It's right that he sleeps a lot ...for a while only. The reason I say this is after a while he will become very lethargic, permanetly tired and this often leads into a slight depression, understandable really considering what he's been through and is still going through.

Tough love may on occasion may be required as no doubt he will have some times where understandably he will feel down, the occasional kick up the arse will I am sure be administered.

For long term injuries depression is normally born out of frustration and doesn't always happen but it's something a lot of people don't realise.

I am sure you and your good lady will see if there is any difference in your lad and will act accordingly but don't be afraid to speak to his g.p. if you see a need to.

Apart from my nannying momment, I'm really chuffed for you all that things seem to be a continual positive

Centaur - I'm so pleased for you and your family. He sounds like he's making great progress which is fab. Sleeps good for healing, and a mother to prevent self pity is brilliant too!! and lots of visitors to prevent boredom . . . . :yo: :yo: :yo:

I'm sure if he fancies a visit from a group of barge riders, one can be arranged - possibly with liquidised steak - in lieu of the real one - then a BBQ when he can chew a real steak!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

as always - big big hugs to all of you. :k:k:k

Lots of luv

Shoei Helmet

I had asked the Police about the condition of David's helmet, specifically the chinpiece, as he suffered so much facial damage. They had kept his helmet but returned his leathers and boots etc. Had a message today that the chinpiece HAD broken but they pointed out he had hit the A pillar with his head and then hit the road face down. Must have been a hell of a crack to break the chinpiece. Open face helmet anyone? I have ridden with open face helmets in the past but never again! I'm too good looking to risk that. lol

great news bill...and like whats already been said, really pleased for you and your family.

from what i've heard,it sounds unlikely the plod will prosecute your son as they will see that he's suffered more than enough already...fingers crossed!

I wish stan!

Police are recommending to the Procurator Fiscal that he be charged with careless riding! He deffo did wrong overtaking approaching a junction but I had hoped..... Anyone know if that is a Court appearance or just 3 points and ?60?

Common sense would dictate that they let it go with what David has suffered, and will continue to suffer over the coming months and years. His life will never be the same and he has a long road ahead of him. If, and it must be a big "IF", it goes to court then he's in the hands of the magistrates. However, they willtake into account his injuries and his obvious remorse for what has happened.

Nobody can tell what can happen, but, if it was down to me, I'd let it go!

what rubbish news.

Is this a recommendation??

Like the police here making recommendations to the CPS??

In which case does the Procurator Fiscal have the chance to use his noddle and 'let it go' based on life changing injuries received?

Crossing fingers for you hun. Luv and hugs to you all :k:k:k

Isn't the Procurator Fiscal the Scottish equivalent of the CPS?

Latest update

David and his Mum are now in Boston having had a long uncomfortable trip from Kinloss. The healing scar on his head became infected so a trip to A&E resulted in anti-biotics which hopefully will sort things out. As she is now home, Dot, (David's Mum) has been able to see this thread and as she cannot post she has asked me to thank everyone for their offers of help and support over the weeks. She was very moved by some of the posts. No doubt David will see the thread soon! I attach two photos, a before and after. I know.....which is which? I can assure you that although he does'nt look great yet he looks a lot more human than he did when I first saw him in Aberdeen. Take care out there! They are out to get you!

Another update

Again thanks to all who have supported David on here and in pm's. He is making steady progress but is in a lot of pain as his medication has been reduced for fear of addiction. Not allowed whisky as a back-up! He will be back in Aberdeen on the 18th of this month and hopefully will have the wiring taken out of his upper and lower jaws. His scar is healing up nicely and he can now put his head under the shower. No shampoo as yet though. He said yesterday he believes it will be 18 months before he will be able to put a helmet on again. I attach the latest photo and he is at last starting to look more like himself. All praise to his Mum for keeping him on the right track.

Good news that he is thinking about when he will be able to put a helmet on again. I'm surprised he wants to but good on him for having the guts to even think about it so soon. Keep up the progress.

Whats all this about putting his head under the shower, I've NEVER done that anyway !!!
