Well mate ...............

I can tell you from personal experience the B&B situation in southern India ranges from interesting to something more like :eek: :eek: :eek: ....something I reckon every adventurer has to experience at least once in a lifetime :}
I have had similar ideas of an around UK trip taking in the islands as well, we should compare notes sometime mate. :beer:

I've been thinking...

Seeing as I've now signed on the dotted line for the new promotion, I decided to celebrate with a bit of dicking around for half an hour today and got to wondering about the impact of the time taken to stop for gas (sorry chaps, petroleum:p ) on a long haul. This was mainly brought on by the big 'un being just less than a month away :rolleyes:

I did a simulation of stopping for a fill every 250 km, and averaging 90 km/hr whilst actually moving. At each petrol stop, I firstly allocated 10 minutes to fill and have a drink, and noted the time taken to cover 1600km (1000 miles). I then repeated the exercise for a 15 minute stop. The difference is ~1.5 hours!

Hardly rocket science, but ok for being knackered on a Friday arvo, hehe. The whole point of this is that you don't have to go like a cut cat to make good time, minimising stopping times is a classic example of the tortoise and hare syndrome.

And on that note, I will head for a well-earned beer!

Cheers guys

Geoff

Friday night in the UK and...

Clive clearly isn't at some country pub with Kit, and Skip is presumably busy at work, but pursuing self-interests:} . Oh dear, what are we to make of it all?

And here's me on a Saturday morning with Jennie out for the day and a housework list pinned to my shirt. Can't help it if the feather duster accidentally brushed the 'puter switch, can I? :dunno:

Skip, I'd appreciate it if you avoided the word "snip". It reminds me of something painful a few years ago :cry:

Oh well, I'd better go and dust the cats and feed the hoover.:p

N1 m8y. I've already started to practice for the event by adopting a foetal position whenever possible. Karen is complaining that its effecting our sex life but accepts it's for a good cause......:}

Anyway, I'm looking forward to it :goofy: , hopefully the event will take off with many riders giving it a shot.

BOING!........

Not that long to go now!......:} well, ok, it is a few months but I've done nothing but functional riding this winter and need to start reminding myself that the good weather and fun ain't to far away!

Skip m8y, you said you were planning a rest day on the arrival of the Legog run on the 18th. I take it that this means the four points will kick off on the Saturday morning after an overnight stop somewhere in the area?

Hi Fodz, I will be leaving Lands End on Thursday the 17th and plan to have a bit of a sightseeing bimble over Thursday and Friday arriving at J'OG friday evening ish will be looking at using Saturday the 19th as a rest and preparation day with riders checking in, scrutineering, briefings etc.
The Challenge will kick off on Sunday the 20th.
I will shortly be looking into the accomadation situation at Dunnett, J'OG and area as well as Lands End for the finish.

Stiill undecided whether to B&B it or tent it or park bench it on the way oop still a bit of research to do yet.
Not long to go M8 I've been putting the long cold miles in over the winter and will step it up as the spring arrives.
