take each person as you find them, if the past is brought up then each person has to decide for themselves, if the past is hidden then it hasnt happened to the people involved.
I always take people as I find them unless I know the facts about their past, I am sure the friends of the guy at Ripley know all about his past, having said that we were welcomed at Ripley & there was no bother apart from one bloke being chased off for trying to cop off with another blokes girl

i found out this weekend that somebody i know has just in the last 3 weeks been arrested for child and adult porn, i liked him 6 weeks ago, now ?? i am waiting to see what the outcome is but unless he is totally blameless i will have feck all to do with him again except that if i find out my kids are involved.
I am in a fairly similar situation as regards friends, some colleagues have been suspended one of them a good friend who I've known for over 25 years if they are guilty of what they are accused of then I will no longer have anything to do with them.

What sort of people are keep in wakefield then??

Paedophiles, rapists, Murderers, & that's just the staff :-0)

So I'm probably going to run the gauntlet of being beaten up for
wearing my Triumph Owners MC or British MC Preservation Society badges?

No....because those organisations are MCC's, not MC's.

Subtle difference.

For those of you who knock football fans what is the difference to patch wearers beating up other patch wearers and say Man U fans beating up Man city fans.
None of it is right.
If I walk down the street wearing a pink tutu do I run the risk of being beat up by some angry ballerina's?

While back patch clubs don't appeal to me, neither do Golf clubs or Polo clubs quote]

I had a Golf, and while the Polo is rather small for my needs/knees I believe the VW range of motor cars still has a lot to offer.

And back to the subject, by "way of life" does this mean general intimidation and the production of amphetamines?

Or are they all nice lads once you get to know them? Misunderstood, as it were.
As with any group of people, you will find both types. The club we are in does not have a preponderance of intimidators/amphetamine users and most are just downright nice folks. Other clubs may be into the heavy stuff, but as I'm not a member of any other club, I really wouldn't know.

I may be a bit ignorant about patch clubs but all I know is what I have seen & read about them, if the books I have read were true then the way they earn their patches is not very honourable.
Don't know about MCs Derek, but earning an Ogri patch consists of being prepared to work hard for the club and fitting in, none of us have ever been asked to do anything that would be considered wrong.

A couple of the books I read were in the early 70's, "Hells Angel" & "1%ers" & as I recall parts of the initiation were to eat someone else's vomit, never wash your colours which had been pissed on by everyone in the club, if you got a bird the leader had to shag her first, also you had to prove yourself by beating someone to a pulp with a bike chain, if that is what you have to do to earn your patch then you can keep em.

The big stories dating back to where it all started were total put up jobs by the media..

Hollister is probably the most infamous and that was staged !!
( Hollister info )

The Hollister riot occurred during the Gypsy Tour motorcycle rally in Hollister, California, from July 4 to July 6, 1947. The event was sensationalized by yellow news reports of bikers "taking over the town" and staged photos of public rowdiness.

Pulp novels turned out by the New English Library Group with lurid titles such as 'Chopper', 'Mama' 'The Run' etc......had about as much truth between their covers as a Government ministers speech. Peter Cave was the 'author'....he also wrote a series of skinhead, suedehead and bovver boy books....all of them total fiction.

Read.....Hells Angel, The Life and Times of Sonny Barger for the true picture. Straight from somebody who lives the life and has nothing to gain by glossing it up. :-0)

Well, a lot of this may well have been fiction, but my views are coloured by having lived in Australia for a few years, the bikies (as they're called in Straya) have a shocking reputation there, there's the "Milperra massacre" from back in the 80's, when half a dozen were killed in a shoot-out, a bloke was beaten to death at Sydney airport a year or two back in a bikie fight (can you imagine the uproar if it had been Heathrow?) and there were a few killed at a car show or similar I recall too. These are just the main stories that make the headlines, there are heaps more. And bear in mind that Dunnunda there are only a few hundred bikies in total. Google it, makes incredible reading.

Don't know as much about it, but there's some bad stories come out of Scandanavia too - attacking rival clubhouses with rocket launchers anyone? Even the militant wing of the Caravan club don't go that far.

So while Ogri and the like are I'm sure full of decent guys, the clubs that most associate with MCs have a few naughty people as members.

I'm in the dark about a lot of this stuff but no where near as naive as some posters on this thread.

From what I understand any patch club with rockers* needs to be "approved" and affiliated with one of the big clubs e.g. Outlaws, Hells Angels etc

(* - or is this just a bottom rocker?)

In this case aren't you then in a position of being instructed to do what ever they desire for fear of retribution?

It's not an area of life that I intend to get into as my loyalty belongs to my family and I wouldn't put anything else first hence my non-eligibility.

I am interested in how these clubs work. The last time I saw such a discussion on a forum it didn't last long as some posters and I believe the forum operators/moderators were "advised" to close it :dunno:

In theory perhaps, but in practice, nope, .... there's being a closely aligned add-on to the main group and then a sort of tolerated distant cousin.
