are "patched" members of a club, not asking for club names unless you want to give them of course, just wondering to the rough number, as i know a few are.

Not me but used to "hang around" on the fringes years ago.
Never known a "club" with so many rules you "must" obey or you get "fined".
Never knew they were like that. Maybe they all aren't
I met up with an old school friend after about 5 years, who had left the scene for an alternative way of life
Not my cup of tea at all though.
I still bump into him occasionally. He's a grandad and grey now but still as hairy. ZZ top beard b4 ZZtop.
I must admit I was a bit in awe of him and to be honest a bit intimidated.
My wife will still go out of her way not to bump into him. She is genuinely frightened of him. His mind is in a different place.

Hi Supa

You have to be careful you don't offend with them there patches.
Some bike club members I know in Germany had a visit from a back patch club and told in no uncertain terms to change their club logo/patch wording. They of course complied.

Our club was formed in 1979 Roxxo.....permission was sought (and granted) from the largest of the back-patch clubs to allow the wearing of a 3-piece side-patch on our jackets.

Being aware of the politics of the MC, MCC, RC, Brotherhoods etc. is, as you say, of great importance before sewing on a patch......but I do appreciate your words as they may save someone who isn't 'in the know' from embarrassment or worse !! :-0)

Come on you Hatters
Me and a mate did the Mag rally in Durham at the end of last season, our first one. I was a little surprsied how many clubs were obviously there even though they say 'no colours to be worn'.

We realised we'd pitched on the fringe of one club, and to be honest they weren't exactly friendly.

Mags general image is pretty poor to start with, and after that rally I'm not sure I'll stay a member.

Sorry Supa,
just re read my post.
I didn't mean you in particular but "one" must be careful.
Obviously you do know the score but as you say there may be some who through innocent motorcycling camaraderie, get into bother :)

Cheers

As for the other clubs, did know one guy who I upset before he was a member..........he never forgot and about 3 years later I was in a pub with a few mates when he punched the fuck out of me appearing from nowhere without any warning.........not nice.

You have your sticker.....I wear a patch. Your sticker represents a pisstake...my patch represents membership of my club.

You say 'this type of mentality'......what would that be exactly ?? :dunno:

Live and let live.

Poor old Al's a full colour member of Ogri MCC. L'il ole me is only an associate. Don't know about other backpatch clubs, but Ogri is like an extended family and there aren't lots of rules either. Several Bird members (and my 75 year-old mother) have been to the clubhouse for various parties and rallies and all seem to have had a good time.

I gather the MCs are the ones with lots of rules, and you can't wear your colours into their territory without asking permission. I do know that Ogri had to ask permission from 'the big boys' to sport a backpatch in the first place 30 odd years ago.

I have to admit, the rallies we've done have all been at clubs that Ogri have close ties to, so I've never found any of them unfriendly. We did do one rally at an unknown club, Future MCC's Clay Pigeon Rally, with others from this forum as it was also our EOSB. Great time had by all, and no-one was unfriendly there either.
