well!! considering all the spectacle wearing members we have on here, shy of eating carrots  expensive laser treatment and contacts that some cant wear, it seems we is buggered,!!! :bang:
when you consider the amount of riders that actually experience this "problem" when the bikes not moving, Im surprised and dissapointed that no one has come up with a solution that works for everyone, 100% of the time,!! :dunno:
O well!! just have to keep rubbing the spud/expensive solutions on em every time I go out on "T" bikes,
note to self, buy some carrots,

A trick that works is smear with a small amount of washin up liquid then rub well with tissue paper

So that's what you get up to during the day is it?

Hmmmmm. :B

Had almost decided to go for it and use a bit of the re-mortgage money to get me peepers done....now Clive has put a bit of doubt in my mind !!!!

Got to admit, I'm as blind as a bat without my glasses and even a partial improvement to enable me to see a bit clearer without specs would be welcome. If I still needed specs for distance etc. I would still think it was worth doing....but it seems there could be a chance of it all going pear-shaped and I could end up worse than I am now !!!!!!

More research into this required before I commit to it, methinks !!!! :}

just an observation, but if laser surgery is so good, why do most of the medical profession still wear glasses ????????????

Makes you think !!!

Before getting my matt black 'Bird (the very best and fastest colour) I had a BMW K1 which I used year round.

When I bought the BMW I also bought one of those BMW helmets (System 3 I think)- they do double glazed visors, dark visors etc. The double glazed vizor is very good and doesn't mist (much).

Last spring I bought a Suomy to go with my new 'Bird (the BMW helemt suffered from turbulence with the extra speed) but it mists up alot in the winter .

I use an Oxford huff guard and never ever had a problem with fogging up. I used sprays and all that other rubbish before, and they worked a bit, but with the huff guard tight across the bridge of the nose, it never fogs up. The Bird is my primary mode of transport, so I'm talking all weathers.........!

It sure does - had my eyes lasered last year after wearing specs for the last 20 years.

I looked around the net for different sites (including lasekdisaster.com, run by an american suprisingly) and decided to go for it.

Best thing I ever did - lifechanging experience thats for sure. :yo:

you suffer from riding too fast on the M3 at night. People who wear glasses should stick to cars or get a prescription visor made up. :k
Well you kept up didn't you? Doesn't really go with the tag "pedestrian" well not unless i'd been clocked! But thanks again for the escort

I did find looking at the speedo was low on my list of priorities.

Astigmatism means I have odd shaped balls!

Assuming the nice lady in Boots (calm down chemist not footware) knew what she was talking about then my astigmatism would require the Gas permeable contact lenses that you reuse rather than the disposable ones and they are the most expensive type!

Ive just got some "toric" monthly disposable lenses from specsavers and they dont seem to be much different in cost to the others

Ultralase - I had done a lot of reading up on them. They are one of the more expensive firms, but I had heard horror stories from people who had used one the cheaper firms (Optimax I think).

You are playing with one of your (if the THE) most important senses you have - just going cheap didn't leave a nice taste in my mouth.

Also Ultralase are the only company in the laser eye business that have results independantly audited.

At my consultation, I was nearly talked out of it because my expectations are so high - odds of 20/20 vision 68% (per eye) and 6/12 (driving standard) 98%. The op as done in 20 minutes (both eyes) and I could see the difference str8 away...could read the clock on the wall of the treatment room etc. Near sight was awesome, but they overegged that on purpose - once the 'major' healing process had finished (2 weeks) I had 20/20.

The price was ?1150 per eye. 3 years interest free credit.

The best 2K I have ever spent. I will not have to wear glasses unti the old age thing catches up with me 45 ish and I will have to wear reading specs I am told.

Had I stayed with specs, by the time I reached 45, I would be in 'Bi-focals-ville'.

Fug that.

I had astigmatism in BOTH eyes - could never wear contacts - my prescription prior to lasering was one of the most challenging Ultralase had tried to treat for some time - I was just in the limits of the equipment they use.
