You have. You’re an awesome arse-lickerWish I had talent like you slim
I particularly like the banjo clock. Stick a temperature gauge or barometer in the smaller hole and the gardening types will go a bundle on it.
Wish I had talent like you slim
I've got the time, just commenting that your gear is pretty unique and that in itself is very unique especially on THIS forum. Not a lot of talent required for this stuff mate, just a welder & enough time to use it really
I did think of that & have been looking for weatherproof ones to use so Percy Thrower types can hang one on their shed or fence
Mate, you talent is awsome.. it is the designs .... It takes a good eye and imagination to produce that stull
Don't need to mass produce this kit as it is all individual, just produce whatever you want, then contact your seller and say I have this, how much. So you control the amounts and when
Toughened glass isn't the only option, remember those doors at school that had the metal mesh through the glass as a safety glass ? Plenty of old tired school and office doors around second hand to strip the glass from, the wired glass type or, old glass oven doors which are heat and safety glass rated
I cant make stuff to that sort of quality & certainly cant make loads the same like those companies can because I don't have the time the space or the kit but I do see what you mean, I'm genuinely shocked at some of the prices
I'm not into mass producing stuff, almost everything I make is a one off simply because it depends on what parts I can lay my hands on at the time, that could be seen as a bonus for some people
Yes I'd love to get a contact in an outlet in London & start making some decent money off this stuff, I searched for places that might be interested but don't really know what I'm looking for to be honest
As for glass I know what you mean Andy, getting glass cut to specific sizes is expensive especially when the edges have to be rounded/polished, I have found a place that deals in second hand furniture & they do scrap quite a few tables etc, the glass goes in a skip so when I get time I am thinking I should go & see if I can buy some of the smaller pieces & build around those
I have a great glass chess board that I could easily build a table around but its not toughened glass so I wont do it because of the safety issue, no way do I want to be responsible for someone getting hurt so that will probably go in the bin
What do you have 'in stock' at the moment @slim63 ?
Post up a pic or two ( smaller items ) and I will get them advertised on Fun for you ( I presume they can be shipped ? )
Nice stuff, Slim...as usual.
The clock I bought has pride of place on the mantle piece (the only thing I've changed on the clock is to glue a couple of thin foam pads to the feet, to keep her-in-doors happy ) and the piston lamp that I bought for my mate on the IOM has become something of a talking point in his house.
Every year he makes a bit of money doing B&B for the TT by renting out a couple of big tents in his garden to visiting bikers. Last years lot saw your lamp and were mightily impressed. That got me thinking after your post about finding stuff to do.... the TT and the ManxGP/Classics are ideal places to get interest in your stuff as they're going to be awash with like minded folk like the eejits on here, who would appreciate your creations.
Whether it would be worth going over for one or both, taking a punt on some advertising, or doing a deal with one of the shops in Douglas, I have no idea....but I can ask my oppo on the island to make some enquiries.
