When I was kid my father took out the top set for some reason. Unfortunately he sneezed and the bottom set popped out and broke in two on the floor.

He wasn't impressed.

Well ..... tomorrow is D- day !
In fact 24 hours from now I will be saying Aaaaaarrrrrhhhhhh
Having had freebie treatment (aka guinea pig for trainee dentists) for a couple of years cleaning all my teeth and had painful deep pocket cleaning several times ...

I decided to take the plunge and replace my lower denture with implants (smaller and straighter teeth)
AND my upper tooth, which has ‘moved’, is being replaced with an implant with crowns either side (again straighter)

Having them done in UK, price was comparable with Eastern Europe and saves a bit of money travelling for check ups and hotel stays
Downfall is the immediate load teeth actually take 2 weeks ... so 2 weeks without some front teeth and on a liquid diet !!
Needless to say I took leave from work and not going outside except in darkness !!

I may be in here a bit more regular for the next few weeks

I too had a milk tooth which finally fell out in my 30s leaving a gap. A lovely dentist fitted a bridge in 1978 and it has been there ever since. A new dentist has taken over at the practice I use in Chester and on my first appointment with him a few months ago he said it was looking worn (there's a surprise) and he would replace it with an implant. A snip at £2400. I was laughing hysterically as I climbed out of his chair. £2400 to replace a working bridge at age 75! Bwahahahahahaha. This is a dentist who I had noticed was now giving botox treatment in an NHS practice in a large council estate. Good luck with that business model.

I still have one milk tooth left at 57!

Two others were pulled out about ten years ago, just left the gaps as they were down the sides out of sight. Never caused me any problems whatsoever after the gums toughened up which took a couple of weeks.

Well ... at home recovering from the 2 1/2 hours in the dental chair !!
Lost count how many numbing injections I had!!
These direct load implants are a bugger !!
Much longer than the usual implants and had to be drilled a little before screwing in lot the hard bone with a mini torque wrench !
I opened my eyes at one point and spotted the dentist with a long thread sewing up my gums! (Why did I open my eyes?)
The smell of teeth being drilled and the vibrations are unforgettable !

No food tonight and no milk products for 3 days .... that’s the worst bit as I can’t drink my regular cuppa !!!
Back in 2 weeks to have teeth fitted to these implants ..... so 2 weeks looking like Jaws from James Bond !!!

Let’s hope it’s worth it in the end !!!!

You could become a moderator! How are you at whinging and talking incessant DIY bollocks that only Dirk is interested in ( and that’s only because the sun hasn’t risen up there in 6 months). Go on, pop in an application, you get a free tabard and peaked cap....

Er, he is a moderator.

Admittedly not a very good one, but still a moderator.

THANKYOU Andy for the compliment !

I spent so much time correcting spelling and grammar, for people who claim to be educated... I was unable to collect my tabard and peaked cap !

I thought this was a Bird forum, where most people are of the older persuasion, and teeth procedures would be of interest

As for ‘whinging and talking incessant DIY bollocks’... I think that’s Andy you are referring to ??
