Had to have a tooth removed today !!

It won't hurt ....says the dentist That's bollocks to start with !!!
Then he says the one next to it should really come out too ...
Go on then.. While I'm 'supposed' to be numb
No says he ... We will leave that till it settles down (aka we will leave it until I can fleece you if another wodge of cash !!)

So I have a one tooth denture .... Bottom set front left lower 1 for those who know a bit about teeth
Do I like the taste of plastic in my mouth ... Err no
Do I like how I sound now ... Err no
Even drinking causes me to wobble tongue and almost lift denture ...
AND upper left 1 has to come out too soon ... Am I looking forward to that ..... Errrr NO !!!!
Will I get used to it ??? Errrrr ????

How many of us oldies on here have any false teeth and any tips ?? Or words of wisdom ??

(Contemplating getting a permanent bridge instead .. To save messing about !!!!)

My TopTip when visiting the dentist is to grab him by the bollocks and say
; we are not going to hurt each other are we ; usually works @tu*

There is another alternative, although it relies on the 'gaps' m not being visible ........ Just have nothing. For some bizarre Reason I retained Two 'milk'
teeth that eventually had to come out. Fortunately these were out of view down the sides. Once removed the gums soon toughened up and the gaps make absolutely no difference to me either aesthetically or practically.

I've three teef missing from the front, I have a set of three teeth on a plate I simply dont/cant wear, they help me speak properly, but I cant eat with them in and hate the "something in my gob" feeling they give me, so I don't wear them at all, I looked at implants in the UK  dont even bother, so looked abroad for them and at ?2000 plus two trips to Bulgaria over a 3 month period, it's looking like I'll be lisping and flashing my "half" smile for some time to come!! :dunno:

Only problem is the lower left 1 (and upper left 1 removal in the future) is always noticeable .... Almost dead centre of the mouth !

I smashed 7 top front teeth clean off against a steering wheel about 25 years ago. I had a plate at first which made me speak like Freddie parrot face Davies. Was later replaced with a bridge cemented onto a couple of posts (much better). This came loose a couple of times but has been OK for the pasht 17 or 18 years @tu*

With regards to the pain, if your dentist is any good it won't hurt. I've had 2 teeth out, I'm sure he spent his whole fee replenishing his stock of anaesthetic, but I didn't feel pain.

Luckily they are far enough down the sides that I can get away without replacing them.

Day 2 with a mouthful of Lego !
No pain just uncomfortable .... My tongue keeps hitting the denture and my tongue aches from moving it differently !

Other than that .... Really fancy crusty bread !
But may stick with pasta or soup for a little while !!!!

My dentist is a lady, I'm unsure how to obtain a similar level of consensus!

Clueless in most things
Easy, get her credit cards, debit cards, store cards and other shopping enablers and put a pair of scissors close to them and say, any sudden pain may involve my scissor arm to switch

A year and a half later ......
Another tooth removed (now have two teeth on a bit of Lego for lower front)
And the one with the issue that was supposed to be removed .... is still there AND moving even more !

So I’ve been looking at implants for some teeth top and bottom front
A price of a cheap car I can get sorted .....

Anyone else had implants ..... ?
Any thoughts ??

Can’t say I’ve had the dentists ‘tool’ in my mouth ...... :meparto:

BUT Hate it when you are trying to be charming with the assistant and smile and your mouth is numb and you are dribbling !

I have two gaps in my teeth - fortunately along the sides - as a result of not having 'milk teeth' removed as a child; they rot from the inside out in adulthood and mine went in my thirties (still got one left though')

The point about this is that having these two gaps causes me no issues whatsoever. I will most likely be having the remnants of a broken tooth right at the back removed shortly and have no intention of having that replaced in any way.

From personal experience I would say that unless you are talking about gaps at the front I wouldn't bother having anything replaced.

Sorry Darren, just read the initial post and see that your 'gaps' are at the front.

Got all my own teeth, as in they are home grown originals, not bought !
All bar one which is capped. I broke it coming off a pushbike when I was 14 / 15 years old

Darrell got a front upper broke in half when doggy Dillon head butted him :)

Did not want dentures so lobbed out a total of £2200 to have the broken half cut off below the gum line, a stainless steel insert screwed in, and a new tooth, made from animal bone fashioned, colour matched and fitted

Do you swallow or spit out when the dentist has finished in your mouth
