Conservatory Cleaning

Rheumatoid

B.I.R.D Intellectual
Just been quoted ?980 to clean the fucking thing. Think I may as well do it myself but its access to the roof and finials that is problematic. Anyone used any of the access ladders designed for the job or have any other ideas? I am a bit beyond scrambling around on the roof in grippy shoes trying not to fall off :-0)

Thanks

R.

What about those long poles that window cleaners use - hose on one end, brush on other end with water flowing through it?

I think the finials need some scrubbing (they are a bit green) and you can't get enough purchase on the end of a long pole. I have tried before as I have some long poles and brushes that I had for the caravan.
Thanks anyway.

Hire one,(Ladders) should be about ?25/30 a day delivered, also ask Clive what to use on the plastic, I'm at work at the moment but will go and find the real deal I have in my garage, you wont have to scrub using it, and the pole and hose job will then become a viable option using this stuff!! :dunno:

Thanks, will look in to ladder hire and await info on the danglies from your garage! I reckon I need to get up there to rub a bit unless this stuff is miraculous and can be applied from a distance.

Ps loads on eBay

I have one of the cheap water poles - the biggest problem is the weight of them once full of water (the whole extended pole fills up)
The pucker ones have a thin hose coiled round the pole to keep the weight down.
They're OK for a wash down but difficult to ggive a good scrub.

I have seen people standing on their flat roof conservatories ....
But !!!!
I would be a bit concerned .. But I am slightly heavier than most !

If you did this use planks to support and spread your weight !

Good luck

Not flat unfortunately.

Used to have a little mate who looked and moved like a monkey and he used to crawl around on top but unfortunately he has moved away.

Long handled scrubbing brush from bedroom window, I have been informed that caravan cleaner works well, I use ladders & karcher.

Tried that but can only reach 2/3 of way along finial. Conservatory is over 5M long.

Silky caravan cleaner is good on what I can reach

Muc Off works a treat on upvc, also biodegradable so no worries about residue

You can buy a platform step ladder for less than ?100, I think Aldi had some, if you've not got a jet washer Karchers aren't overly expensive.
A lot cheaper than the over inflated quote you've had.

Have a word with the local window cleaner & see what he'd charge.

Thanks. will look in to platform ladders. I have a jet washer but could only really use that on the finials. The rest of the roof would need doing by hand as jet washers can play havoc with seals, etc.

will speak to windy but don't think he will have the kit and don't want him walking on the roof panels.

Sorry been a bit since I went on here, right first and in my opinion SX siroflex industrial strength PVCU cleaner, wrap your extension head in an old towel or similar pour this stuff on it and rub as best you can, or affix a sponge to the top of whatever you are using to reach and soak that, as good but probably harder to get hold of is "Wurth" type 32 pvcu cleaner industrial grade, both are the dogs, you will need to wipe excess off and or rinse with water keep it out of your eyes!! you may be as well doing it by hand whilst on ladders @tu*

Cheers. I have decided whatever I use I will need roof access to do it properly so am looking into options such as renting the right ladder.

How about putting a 'proper' roof onto it? Make it into a sun lounge.
