My day is going from bad to much much worse..
Two weeks ago I put the Smarty in to a well known Smart Car specialist for 5 hours of work.. Uprated Cam, turbo and injectors.. ?1300.00

Now two weeks later and so far a bill about two grand, no car..

They have just fones me..
Took it for a run , the valves have clouted the pistons cos the cam has too much lift.. 2 banjaxed pistons 3 valves and a snapped cam shaft.

Why on earth they never checked this is beyong me.. but bottom line is that unless I can come up withh a lot more lolly I am now car-less :violin:

That shouldn't be your problem.
If they fuck up and expect you to pay for their mistakes, then they're idiots.
By the way you've written this, you sound as if your not going to contest this.

Wot he said - you'd be the first to tell one of us to fight our corner if something like that happened to a bike - get on and fight them. They mess up, they should clear up and pay for it.

no more will we sit back and let you tax us to the point of bankrupcy.
no longer will i allow you to raise the cost of road tax without improving the fecking roads.
no longer am i will to let you incrase my council tax and do nothing in return.
no longer will i let this goverment continue to f*** me day in day out when i work day in day out 7 days a week to support my family.
no longer do i want you to pay millions in support to bone idle b/strds who do not want to work as they make more on the dole.
no longer am i willing to let my family suffer because i have to work 7 days a week to support them.
no longer am i willing to let you continually close rest homes for the elderly just to build a block of fecking flats because some goverment wanker has worked out we need to build 100,000 homes a year to cope with the influx if immigrants.
no longer am i willing to be taxed on fecking everything i do just to line the fecking pockets of back bench tossers who do absolutely feck all to improve the standard of living for me and my fellow man/woman.

wake up people, enough is enough. is it not about time the public stopped and said "NO MORE".
Or as i expect, do we just keep bending over and letting the powers that be who supposedly run this country continue to stick it to us day in day out ?

I specified the parts.. In a court of law all he has to say is that he fitted the parts against his profesional opinion.. As nothing is in writing it would be his word agin mine..
Already spoken to those in the know and both of em said the same thing..


Thats the problem with tuning and pushing the envelope a bit.. if it goes tits up the only person to pay is the payer ( so to speak ! )

Ditto to all that Mozza! Very well put. Maybe that could be a campaign theme for the next elections?? "No More" has a kind of ring to it, don't you think?

Like Jaws, I work every day from early till late. What I do is of the best possible quality and I don't charge a lot for it (a massive bone of contention with Claire as she sees the lack of funds and screams blue murder when we can't afford basics!) But, I think that I offer a better level of service and I hope that people will recommend me and come back for future work to be done. I have people "pop" in to let me look at their bikes for a price and they stay for a couple of hours chewing the fat and having a nice time. I earn bugger all in those couple of hours, but I make some new friends and they "may" come to me for paintwork or other stuff. So, it's not all bad. The problem is, nobody has time for anybody else these days, and that's sad. These politicians are only interested in lining their own pockets and sticking it up us at every given opportunity. I'm tired of being walked over and I'm tired of being mugged by people who think they know better - they don't!

what makes me laugh is no other country puts up with it, look at the french, they revolted. something needs to happen soon, or i guess easiest option is to bugger off abroad. but i don't want to leave my homeland.......but more and more im thinking what the hell, if it makes life easier and better for my family, then we may have to soon.

Depends how you define wealth Mark but I take it you mean moneywise and you are right the wealthy are immune from many of the issues that affect the rest of us.

All valid points Jaws that I wouldn't argue against but your vision and my vision of an ideal government will never happen.

While there are hundreds of genuine, decent people like yourself there are thousands who want to maximise their own profits in whatever walk of life. MPs are no different and in the free labour market we sell our selves to the highest bidder.
As you say, MPs do not produce anything, but neither do the great many employed in this country.
Napoleon described us as a nation of shopkeepers. Probably more true now than ever.

Whether a surgeon, an MP, company chairman, footballer is worth their salary is a different matter. As we have seen with a few silver spooned MPs of the previous administration, being a millionaire isn't enough. Mendacity and corruption would appear to be a way of life. Messrs Aitken and Archer spring to mind.

At least this current lot have made vast improvements to the lives of many "lesser members of society" as you call them, who were at best ignored and at worst driven into poverty or an early grave by " the ordinary folk hating, heartless Tory regime" that squandered Britain's wealth on tax cuts for the rich, unemployment at 4 million plus, subsidies for the land owners and farmers, while taking them from other industry, started the swingeing cuts in defence and did lots and lots of very bad things that I can't be arsed to think about let alone type and this I fear is becoming the most grammatically incorrect and longest sentence ever typed on this forum..... Breathe out.

Interesting question Aidey, but 18 years was it, of record number of businesses going bust, council house being sold off, record number of repossessions and homelessness, personal bankruptcy, massive unemployment that touched nearly every family in Britain, reduced funding in schools and hospitals, closing care homes, kicking those who cannot look after themselves out into "care in the community", poll tax, riots in the streets while a few at the top lived in yuppie luxury.

The Labour government of the 60s and 70s were fighting class wars that were essentially not there after WW2. The present Labour government is Labour in name only. It is a party of the centre left that wants to improve the lives of the many not just the few. The Tory party has also changed and is moving further left. Consensus politics is the future. There will always be factions and pressure groups shouting for their bit but governments have to keep the big picture in mind.
The world and politics has changed and we have moved on and many of the old battlegrounds are no longer here. This administration has at least tried and in many areas succeeded in making the lives of the less well off and the needy better. Locally we have had more investment in schools, free computer and IT skills courses, money given to local authorities to set up groups by local folk to help local folk and a host of other initiatives.

I do not agree with some of the policies of this government but we must appreciate what has been achieved along with criticising all the time.
Yes there is always room for improvement but it is a question of balance and the country and the majority of people in this country are better off now than at any time.

I know this is going to sound a bit soft but I have only JUST realised Roxxo.. Whilst you are a fan of Labour, I think you believe I am a fan of the other lot..

No mate.. They are ALL a bunch of low life tossers !!
MP's should receive minimum wage, be banned from holding any other job for their term in office, and not allowed to earn more than double minimum wage for the next ten years..

Or something along those lines...............

The ONLY people who will be MP's are those who want the job for the job.. No one who wants to earn a few bob ( !!!!! ) would be interested ..

Now, just think about how much lolly that would save !
The MP's of the UK claim enough expenses alone to keep four fully equiped 200 bed hospitals going for a year.. and THAT is fuckin stagering !!

And just maybe, we would not have wonderful institutions such as Great Ormand St hospital for children on telly having to BEG money from a population already more heavily taxed than any in peace time.

On the contrary Jaws, I was always of the opinion that you weren't a fan of any mainstream political party. I think that you are right in that some MPs are a waste of a good skin but not all.
Regarding expenses, as far as I understand they are all scrutinised by an independant body and nobody would expect MPs to be any different from you or I claiming expenses from our employers.
Many specialst hospitals would like more money and one way is to raise awareness through charitiy which nowadays has become big business and a ritual.
Strange as well, while we are all more affluent today and charity donations have risen dramatically, I understand that still the largest charity donators, percentage wise of their income are the lower paid.
