Tis like I said earlier.. Different folks find different things work.. I mean, someone has even found they like Dunlops ! Says it all really :p !

I love Avons to bits.. I loved BT57's but thought 020's were a HUGE step backwards.. I HATE with a vengeance Dunplops, aint too keen on Pirelli and find Michelins are great for covering huge distances. providing said huge distances are in a straight line..

Now all of the above is MY findings/feelings.. no one else's.. and for someone else they might well be completely wrong or irrelevant

One thing... I do not think it is right to call anyone stupid or a sheep that goes against what YOU feel. Just cos they have a tyre preference , or report they have had good results from one option over another does not make their observations any less valid than those from folk who are being forceful.
Whilst you might do it face to face cos you can see faces and body language, on here it just gets peoples backs up and it is a sure fire recipy for yet another Steve/John meeting moment !

From what I can see there are several people who have strong feelings one way or the other.. Having strong feelings does not make you right or righteous folks :p ! Just makes you an independent thinker with an opinion you want to share with others

to set the record straight the reason Rhinos tyres keep stepping out is cos the sheat keeps getting stuck under the back tyre !

Well FB, looks like I'd better pull up a barstool then - always wanted to be a keyboard king :}

I agree with the comments about dry riding (that's if I'm qualified to do so) - used a hell of a lot more of the front tyre with the Avon in the dry than I ever did with the 020. That's what makes the effects of wet weather so dramatic. It's as if someone has gone out and coated the tyres to grease. I found that they were over the fooking place. Can't even begin to compare them to the 020's. Maybe they'll work differently over in the UK :dunno:, but I doubt it.

From what I can see there are several people who have strong feelings one way or the other.. Having strong feelings does not make you right or righteous folks ! Just makes you an independent thinker with an opinion you want to share with others
John stop being reasonable - I'm bored and just starting to enjoy it.

Right guys I got some avon 45/46s bird specific on for the last 3000m still looking good with loads of tread left.
In the dry they're fooking awesome as much grip as I'll ever need I'm wearing out knee sliders more than rubber.
I had a set last year and thought the same but that in the wet weren't very good.I swore I'd never use them again.
However after reading threads over the last year with all the good reports on them and being given to understand that the silica content had been increased to improve wet weather grip I tried another set.
I've only been out a few times in the wet but have found them still crap today out with Stan der Marn we had a bit of rain we both had slides at very moderate lean angles.
Is it me or what am I expecting too much from a motorcycle tyre I don't think so as when I go out in the wet on my 1150gs fitted with a hybrid mich anakee trailey sort of road rubber I can go through bends with far more confidence and lean.

Bert, stop flapping your jowels......this thread was about WET riding, something you know little about :f
And also talking about a tyre you know NOTHING about....... :f

To be accurate, this thread is about experience in riding motorcycles - something in which you seem sadly lacking with your tender years

Jusus I only left the puter for a little while and wer'e up to 4 pages.
It seems to have the makings of world war 3 someone call the U.N.

Bert, this thread has fook all do to riding experience in riding motorcycles,so your not accurate now are you.

Nig's looks like wer'e not alone there's more and more peeps coming out of the closet over the Avon issue in wet conditions.

Rider skill has fook all to do with a piece of rubber sticking on tamac on this instance.
As I've stated I'm talking of very modest lean angles in wet conditions eg 1 Rossi is leant over at a given angle in the wet on a tyre that grips result he get's around the corner.
eg 2 Rossi on 45/46 same lean in the wet craps himself but saves it on his Knee.

I will buy them agin but for these reasons

they are cheap
last a long time
are very very good in the dry but are still shit shit shit in the wet
and because I'm lucky in having another bike to use in the wet which will go round wet corners without needing a change of pants.

so why didn't you use it ? :f
Cos when we went out the sun was shinning the birds were singing and all was well then it fukin rained and as has been said the contrast from dry grip to wet grip was unfooking believable
