Damaged fairings:xm

Got some Azaro's fitted this morning, though i'd nip up to Stokesley and back to get them nicely run in. 'Go nice and steady the dealer warns'. Two miles down the road I had to do an emergency stop, my fault really, but regardless, brand new tyres grip the road beautifully and I breath a sigh of relief.

The steering is ten times sharper than the previous ones (010/020). The front feels a lot lighter and even a little skittish across the bumps.

I plough ahead feeling the lean angle getter deeper and deeper untill I'm cranked right over.

Go fast into a left hander and feel my boot drive into the ground. I figure I must have let my foot slip forward into the wrong position as the pegs are aftermarket and pretty high.

Eventually get home and realise I was cranked over a damn sight further than I thought. And on new rubber!

Rick you bad bad boy........!

Mine copped it too on the BIRD so don't worry.

BK, serious question, what pressure are you them at? 42 psi front & rear??

Might give them a go myself when this set of Bridgestones wear out, dont think I got the skills to bugger the fairing though....

Why is the "B Spec" so important??

Trye model and spec

Hi Guys,

Can you let me know the exact model and spec of the tyres. Need to change the BT020's again. Anyone know where I can get them in the Glasgow area and how much I should expect to pay for the pair?

Cheers Paul

Sizes are 120/70 R17 58W Azaro-ST AV45 B fitment front and 180/55R17 73W Azaro-ST AV46 B fitment rear.

I've just had a set fitted (to loose wheels) for ?170 but as to a place in Glasgow, can't help you there.

Must admit, after 200 or so miles on them I prefer the Bridgestones but it's still early days and if they don't square off that might just be worth the slight loss of 'feel' I'm getting from the front.

I'm also getting a weird, very slight wobble, when slowing down at about 50mph. Haven't totally checked everything yet so it could just be poor wheel alignment or a badly balanced tyre, but I have to say, that so far, I'm not 100% happy.

But then I'm a fussy bugger!

Thanks Lebowski.

I only need the rear, best quote so far ?120 plus ?10 fitting for the 020. If I could get a pair for ?170 it would be worth the change. I have an advanced riding course on Thursday/Friday so may not be the time to change to a new tyre.

Cheers Paul

I've found that for the first few hundred miles I get the weird "wobble" sensation with newly fitted avons. i don't know why it is, possibly the depth of the tread? but it does go after some miles have been done. hopefully then you'll be happier with them.

Been there and done that with the Avons. Good fun when you have a taff to put it right after.

Thanks Taff.

Thanks for that Rods  I've just come back from the Hastings Run and can't say I noticed the "wobble" but maybe I'm just getting used to it! As you say, it could be the tread depth, they certainly have deep grooves.

I did read on the US forum that an Avon representative out there claimed that the wobble goes after 8 or so 'heat cycles'. Which I take to mean the tyres warming and cooling after a run :dunno:

At the end of the day I can't afford to change 'em so I've got to either solve the problem or live with it.

Where did you get the tyres from? Does your supplier keep them in stock?
Ordered a new rear Azaro at National Tyre and Autocare last week, only to have them send the wrong rubber - it did not have the 'B' mark. If they can not sort it for me by Thursday I may need to get somewhere sharpish for another. Got 6k on the old one but decided to replace before a long trip to the Mosel. Reckon the old tyre might have had possibly 2k left on it but picked up a nail.

He did a repair on the panel, very close to going through, deep graze about 8" long. You would never know it had been there, full respect :yo:

Sorted thanks, National tyres @ Redcar have got the right one in now, and I will be there first thing in the morning. Only went there on a recommendation, as the fitter is very meticulous. Price was even cheaper than the last one.
Then maybe fish & chips at Whitby before coming home. Just to scrub the tyre in of course.

Sorry no reply Ian, not been online.

I think the cost price of the tyres was about ?120.

I paid ?150, but It was cash and I have been going to the same dealer for years.

I imagine normal price would be about ?170.
