When I was in Seastar last week, I asked when they were getting some. Sometime in June, and they had sold 12 of them already

I've given up cos according to who you speak to the UK allocation is somewhere between 200 and 400 and they all appear to be sold..........

Thought there may be a chance of one through a Greek contact - but that turned out to be complete bollocks - nothing new there then

Sounds a bit like the Sprint ST last year then, they were sold out months into the future. Seems a bit rubbish bringing out a new bike like this then not having the resources to put machines in the showrooms. A smaller outfit like Triumph you could perhaps excuse, but seems a bit poor for Kawasaki and it is supposedly a reppalcement for both the ZZR-1200 and the ZX-12R.

Bike press also seem to think it isn't much cop on the build quality. But then it's not a Honda, is it? They'll go on about it being better cos it's new but the Bird will rise above it...

Bwaaaahahahahaha oh so true DS.

Having said that, depends on what you want it for.
If i had to buy a bike primarily for 2 up continent blasting i'd own another BIRD without a doubt, BUT i want more than that, i want excitement, i want raw, i want character, i want hardcore (not for my driveway).

What you want it for, Quite. I came ohsoclose to buying a discounted new ZZR 1200 last year but got a 2nd hand Bird instead for similar money. Bird's better looking n all.

Reports seem to suggest ZZR14 doesn't have much raw hardcore where you might hope to find it. Unless you're German.

Ooooh no, i don't want it..

I think it looks different in a positive kinda way but i wouldn't pay out my hard earned for an untested Kwak.

I'll confess.... I have at least been studying the big Kwak pretty hard. The chances of actually jumping ship are slim-to-none, but dammit all, since Honda has apparently lost its nut sack and abandoned the hyper-bike class, it's hard not to at least look at new hardware.

How many years in a row have we been waiting for a significant upgrade to the XX , if not a whole new design? It's been seven (7) years since the last significant upgrade! :bang:

But that's okay... it's not like my XX is struggling to keep up with anyone, and at 75,000 miles, it's just now getting broke in proper! :yo:

A photo from last weekend.... a little 3-day, 2100-mile jaunt around Nevada/California; this was shot on a side road in the Lassen National Park:

Nothing quite like a big Kawasaki engine. The difference in power between my injected '00 XX and my '03 ZX12R was massive (had a ZZR1200 for a day - hated everything about it, preferred the SuperBlackie)...........I would expect the 1400 to absolutely rock in all departments, especially the motor.....

The ZZR1400 doesn't replace the ZX12R - one's about half a bike heavier and two foot longer!

The BlackBird whilst still a fookin' fast bike, isn't that quick on paper anymore, not at least when compared to it's present day peers.........and that's a fact - there's at least three 600's out there that whip it to 100mph. Why Honda haven't done anything to it for so long is beyond me!

Bike press dont have a clue IMHO, seems they are getting all hung up over letters.

The Zed14 has been on sale in the US for two, three months now, (as a ZZR ZX14 Ninja) and is proving to be a firm favorite over there BUT the the bike is sold as a hyperformance model, not a Sports Tourer. In this country Kwakas are aiming for the same market. The reason that the bike press are comparing it with the likes of the bird, hedgeabusa, ZX12 is because there is nothing else out there that it does actually compare to. Who makes a hyperformance model nowadays? The bird and even the hedgeabusa have now gotten the "Sports Tourer" badge, hell I've even seen a 'busa with a full set of givi's!

The New Hyabusa is a year away, the new blackbird is, well answers on a postcard really so that does leave the market wide open.

There is a sports touring 14 on the way but it will have a GT moniker rather than the ZZR. I personally am looking forward to having a go on the zed14 as I would like to compare it to my ZZR12
