>ZX12R Worldwide Recall & Whitham Quits<

Kawasaki has issued a worldwide recall on all 2000-2003 ZX-12R Ninjas due to a technical fault which can cause oil to leak onto the rear tyre.

According to Kawasaki, there is only a small possibility of oil working its way from the alternator, through the wiring harness to a plug situated under the rider?s seat. From there it could theoretically leak on to the rear tyre.

This recall follows a previous recall for the ZX-12R in November 2001 in order fo the tyre valve nuts to be replaced. All owners are being contacted.

Jamie Whitham has quit racing for good..................

The 37-year-old is suffering from glaucoma, an eye disease which doctors fear may have been caused by the chemotherapy he underwent for Hodgkin?s disease in 1995.

Whitham, who was due to race the new R6 for the factory-backed Belgarda Yamaha team in 2003, said: " I tested the new R6 again at Valencia last weekend for the first time in decent conditions and I realised I couldn?t race safely. "
