ZX1 Extralube

Ok, snake oil discussion. I have two mates who swear by this stuff, been using it for donkeys years and reckon it the mutz nuts, in your oil, fuel, water, up the arse etc etc.

Now as they are obsessed, they try pushing it on me every time I get a different vehicle, so one of them who I'm convinced has shares in ZX1 has given me a bottle of the stuff to put in the bird........

Anybody used it? Rate it or hate it?

Nowt wrong with it.. makes a load of money for the makers, but seeing as a Bird lump with standard 8 k oil changes using semi synth is good for more that a million miles ( witnessed and documented ) I just don't see the point
And remember, Birds REALLY do not like full synth ( as recognised and put out in a tech bull way back in 98 by Honda them selves ), using in an XX could be quite a bad idea ( though I do not know )

Wash in lemon juice then you wouldn’t stick to it

As above clutch slip.

Some have reported no issues but semi synth is plenty good enough…I used to use Halfords own brand in the maroon container, no idea if that is still competitive.

Clutch slip was, a loooong time ago an issue, but the modifiers they use now overcome that issue, as did the problem with some long molecule breaking down
Honda never ever told any one the real reason but from my experience I have come across several cases of frothing oil ( and as you can imagine oil trhat is frothing gives very little protection
The most logical reason would be the use of straight cut gears but I honestly do not know

Well I dumped some ZX1 in my car this morning, can't say I noticed an amazing difference after the claimed 20 minutes of driving for it to work.....I've spent many hours reading up on it and people really do go crazy over the shite.......funny I'm happy to test it out in my '68 reg car, but reluctant to try it in the old bird!!!

Tried it in my old bird but she didn't run any better. Still took her 20 minutes to get to the shop and back with my fags.
