Interesting Zumo 590 charge ?

Bought a 2nd hand 590 lm.
I seem to remember it will only charge up one way, but I cannot remember if it was in the cradle or via the USB lead..

Why a zumo 590/595 Device Isn't Charging. Garmin's zumo models will only chargewhen certain conditions are met. When connected to a motorcycle mount, the zumowill only charge if it is powered on. If the zumo is in sleep/standby mode (if available) or powered off, then it will not charge.

According to the Garmin web site it does charge whether on or not. I have mailed them for clarification

John - there's a small hack to turn it into a 595. Been running mine as such for 6 months or so and glad I did for the additional functionality.

Charging wise I've never checked to see if it charges when off ... but I do know the USB on the loom doesn't work unless the unit is in place and (I think!) on.
