this list of yours, is this current or previous mate? they are all big trailies yes? What I would go for, if you are lithe enough (as I'm too tall to live with one for ever) is an old 748 Ducati, I'm still tempted to get one for a year (not a 916), just for a change until the new Blackbird NEVER gets released bl4hbl4h

I've had a Varadero, V-strom, GS1100 and GS1150, best one by far and i'm looking for another was Varadero, 3k on a BM and you will get a 30-40 thou high miler, v-strom was just plain shit, Deros rock, its a honda after all, seat hight is highest but not to bad for normal sized blokes.

Had a test on a Tiger, vibes killed my hands, twas an oldie before the FI models came out they may be better.

HTH.

P.S. if you do buy a damaged GS1150 I have spare full bodywork in black adv beak, alloy supermoto type wheels and clock console sitting in my garage getting in the way.

Varadero??

You are not tall enough Arthur! You had a BM and didn't like it. What about a Firestorm?

My Varadero was solid and reliable but bloody heavy, laid it on it's side in a carpark once and it needed 3 of us to pick it up! Don't like the BM's switchgear, never tried a VStrom ... how about the VStrom 650 it's supposed to be excellent?

I know it's not on your list but a TDM900 would be good for this type of bike.

seriously mate, do check the Triumph before committing, if yer left knee is fooked then avoid the Triumph gearbox, I rode 3 and they are all 'stiff'. Could be coincidence :dunno: but hey. Best of luck, big traillie seems the way forward at some point to me, I was really impressed with the R1200GS, and as I've posted elsewhere, the first time in 11 years that I was impressed enough to consider changing. It was only the 'Dick Turpin'-esque deal that stopped me. I don't mind getting my hand in my pocket, but there was no negotiating or willingness from the BMW salesman to budge on his ass-reaming deal, so I walked away ...... Varadero ? my mate Tim rode one about 3 years ago on an open day, he loved it and if he'd had the ca$h I think he would have gone for it. The reason I'm a bit biased on the BMW angle is that I figure shaft drive is the only way if you are going high miles & dodgy roads. I know that most people will simply use them on the road, but I live 'rural' and it would get used on legitimate semi-agricultural means with a jet-wash every 6 months or so, therefore I couldn't get on with a chain.

Bluey, I have the 1150GS up for grabs mate.. luggaged up, extra lights, massively loud horns fitted, cam chain tensioner upgrade, Vario screen BMW heated grips etc etc etc.. 2001 with 9 months tax and long MOT

Have it up for ?3600, if you are genuinely interested mail me and I will consider a fair discount ( cos I am desperate for the room it is taking up )
