I've read that a lot of people here are complaining about wrists problems riding their machine - and no, I don't mean wanking, I mean biking.
Well I think that a lot of that has to do with... a lot of people here are really unfit!!!! I have a knackered left wrist, I do a lot of London riding which is the worst for wrists, and I manage. My tips?
1/ Lay off the pie and exercise your back muscles so that you can ride with a flatter back, thus maintaining your torso so that the weight of your upper body isn't supported solely by your wrists
2/ When you brakes, squeeze your legs like a puritan virgin feeling a soft breeze - so that you take some of the wwight on your legs and not all of it on your wrists
3/ Relax
3/ stop wanking so much

For the newer members and lurkers. I know Ian and it is an attempt at humour. Please do not read more into it than there is. I apologise profusely if I have alienated anyone in the process of this post. Please don't leave, please.

I also apologise to the fat bastids who can't reach the bars and the tossers who really believe they can ride and can't. From what I have seen that is most of us. I also apologise toanyone else offended by this post apart from Bert who can stuff it!!!!

If you straighten your wrists a bit... that helps too.

Lower your elbows a little, so that your forearm is more parallel to the road and it takes the strain off your wrists. If your hand's gone numb it lets the blood flow again.

Hopefully you won't mind my barging in with a comment. We've had this discussion a number of times on another Bird list. :bang:
Ideally, one wouldn't have any weight on the hands and wrists - resting them lightly on the handlebars and using them only to "steer".. The weight of the torso would be supported by the back muscles and the thighs. Physical conditioning does influence comfort - a lot!
In my own personal reality, If travelling any distance, there's a partially filled tank bag which is used as a chest rest/support. Fortunately Mother Nature didn't overendow me with pectoral accoutraments  and I can do so comfortably. Since most of you guys are even less endowed, it should work for you - unless, of course, you have back problems.
