Winter hacks, wot u got ??

OK peeps, we all know how brilliant our Blackbirds are (whatever bleedin colour, although silver/purple is best!) but how many of you are actually, regularly still riding them now the shite is here. If you ride summit else, wot is it and do you recommend them (obviously you would cos you ride it!).

Ive had my 1994 Transalp for just over 2 years and 3 nasty winters and after readjusting the riding style to suit it, I love it in the winter and I don't care (too much) if I drop it, well not as much as I would my beloved 'bird !

So wot u got ??

Sorry Rus. my idea of a winter hack has 4 wheels, although I do like to pop

over to Malaga in the winter and borrow the old mans bike for a few days. Only thing is, he insists I ride in full leathers but you try telling him and the old dear :t

Still using the BB

In fact, went for a play in the snow near Devices today. Lasted all of 30mins before it melted. It was funky freezing, but was well worth it.

i used to ride all year round but got fed up with the mess my bikes got into with rusty parts and furry alloy so my winter hack now is a peugeot 405 diesel :yo:

i often think about gettin a cheap lighter bike to run through winter but never got round to it so far and probably wont now cos i got enough expense with the bird and the pug :dunno:

oh yeah and the pug has a heater in it :lol:

At the moment I just have the bird, a Rover and a toyota RAV4. Although I am now giving serious consideration to getting another bike, probably beemer. Had the chain and sprockets replaced at the weekend, wife is getting very fed up with the rising costs so I am currently thinking wether to chop in the bird for another bike or give up on it altogether

winter hacks...........

is that a cough??? Have one a present!!

Seriously, Derek has a VFR NC21 400. Its very tatty and is great in the winter, so much so that it wouldn't start today:}

Most of the time its great, its been standing all through the holidays so obviously its feeling neglected.

Bubba, would the BMW running costs be any cheaper than the BB running costs?

And even if it is, would it be sufficient enough to compensate for the loss of fun?:t

Hence the "giving it up altogether" side of it.

Just getting too silly, daily grind of 165 miles, 3k per month. Done more milage in 4 months than an average R1 does in 4 years!!!!!

Getting through a rear tyre in 3 months, complete set in less than 6. All adding up and with the baby arriving soon, I dont think I can afford to keep going

wow !

Goog god Bubba, I thought my 60 mile daily commute was bad enought, but 165 !!!

Ever thought of moving house, may be cheaper !!

:lol::lol:

Sorry for this but -

If anyone is looking for a good cheap winter hack then you could contact me as I've got a Z750 for sale.

It's got a deep braced JMC swingarm,Micron fork brace,Taylor leads,braided brake lines,newish battery,4-1 Neta exhaust,virtually new rear tyre,anodised Superbike bars (Renthal lookalikes),good runner.
?700 . Nice price for a workhorse (considering the fancy bits)

Any takers ?
