something ive never understood is WHY dont many women ride big bikes. understood most are heavy but there are a few not so big men that ride blackbirds. why cant a woman ride a blackbird if you are comfortable with it. had problem with parking a few weeks ago but feel more confident. im 5 foot 6 and a bit, 10 stone 11, 32 inside leg and me ma says i should have been an irish navvy how strong i am in body and mind. im not frightened of the bike thats whats scary, just respect it. feel like ive grown a pair of bollocks in the last 2 weeks. our robs took me out on private land so gained more experience. views please. cue piss takers. thanks

Do it Bev, no-ones accused me of growing bollocks since I bought me bird. Just remember that it deserves a lot of respect.
Afew friends have suggested that I maybe moved up to a big bike too soon and i know where they`re coming from but its what you feel comfy with, you might find it hard getting insurance on a BB as a first bike so you`re probably better off going for something like a CBR6 for the first year but if you want a bird and you`re not worried about the cost of insurance its your choice.

Hope you enjoy many years with your BB, there is no reason whatsoever why women shouldn't ride big bikes......they don't need reverse parking :neenaw:

Girls do ride big bikes!
Police girls do anyhaow.
I got bogged down in traffic today behind a big load escorted by police,
filtered my way to the front of the q whence my way was blocked by police motorcyclist on Pan, to my amazement there came forth from helmet in a high pitched voice "where are you trying to get to" in a helpful sort of way.
COOL eh? female in leather uniform!

for me, I would not ride a bird for these two reasons

one, my inside leg measurment is a lot less than 32"!!!! :xm

Therefore, getting one foot down whilst astride the bird is a bit dodgy!!!

Secondly even if the dodgy foot down was got over..........heaving the bike into an upright postition is a major problem to a very bad back.

I would love to ride the bird, and one day I will, but its not anything to do with confidence, but to do with physical logistics!!!! I have the confidence but need the bird to be just lowered by about five inches!!!!

Guess it would be a cbr600 then?? :dunno: Oh well, I guess I am there now!!!!

Bev, riding any bike is down to confidence and technique, the bigger the bike the more of both you need. There is no reason for you not to ride a Bird other than the possible ones of how much it will cost. I remember the first time I saw a Bird (black one) sitting at the back of a shop I thought " Thats for me" which was odd because I'd only driven scooters and small bikes before.
Itook my test and bought a CB500 to learn on ( things like, how to drop it and pick it up again when looking for the reserve tap and still try to look cool) and personaly I am glad that I did , if I had had a Bird to start with I wouldn't be here now coz being a bloke I would have tried too hard!!!!!!!!!
It took two and a half years before I got one so I had to be patient and wait.
If you want one, HAVE ONE (even if its only in your head) it might be a long term plan and in the mean time think about all those smug buggers faces when there are TWO BIRDS parked outside and one is yours. R#? R#? R#?

Girl on Bird

GO FOR IT!! Most girsl don't ride bigger bikes cause they are short in the leg. Fiend of mine has ZZR and is going to have to sell because, in her words, 'getting my leg over isn't a problem, getting my feet down is!!' Hmmm

You said you are 5' 6'' with 32 inside leg..............that is one heck of a long leg!! I'm 5' 11'' and 31 inside leg!!

One word of advice, don't do the kiss my butt thing...you might have a que!!!

Good luck, buy yu a beer or something if we meet.

No point~~~

Women would do well to remember their rightful places........

In the kitchen where they are best qualified

Leave the Bike riding to blokes who know what they're doing

Sorry but in my opinion bike riding is for us men - how many pro bike racers are women?

Simple answer - none - because they can't hack it!!

ONLY KIDDING

but I can almost feel the heat from those female keyboards!!!

ROFL - gotcha
