Why would anyone buy a new 'Blade ?

.............or an R1, ZX10R, GSXR1000 etc etc ?
Having just ridden the new 'Blade at the Honda Australia track day launch, my impressions are brakes, brakes, and how good are the brakes. And how hard is the seat?
Why would anyone buy a bike that only comes into its own at jail speeds and 99% of people could never exploit fully even on a race track?
There is not much drive below 8K rpm and after that it comes on like a two stroke. No wonder I was 10 seconds below the times I do on my 'Bird-even accounting for being on a strange bike. You are either out the seat breaking or the front wheel is clawing skywards.
Mr Honda, a marvelous tool for the very few talented but if we are gonna be polarised into either chosing a 'Blade or a ST1300 (as another thread here predicts the demise of the 'Bird), I will have to keep my 'Bird running until I am ready for a Gold Wing 8l1nd

My point exactly Sanchez (PS-I get your sarcasm) and yes, I am glad I can go quick enough AND enjoy the ride there.
Maybe if someone is inclined to want to have a focused track weapon out on the road, at least get something exclusive and pretty like an MV Augusta-that way all the admiring glances might make up for your aching bum and divert from the look of terror on your face.

If you've ever been out riding with Dirty Sanchez-Believe me,Terror ain't the look on his face.
The day I can out ride him will be the day I win the lottery.

The laughter was that of pure insanity!

They say there's a fine line between genius and insanity........
Genius I'm not.
..Insane? - Fucked up in the head more like....

The whole Pratts Corner is an experience I will cherish-Though I'm not entirely sure why c7u8

Wouldn't go as far to say that mate, I can see where B&S is coming from,
out and out racers for the road are of limited use to those that like to do a bit of distance with gear and pillion and the same goes for Tourers if you do the odd bit of scratching, there is definately a big spot in the market place for something in between and the Bird has managed to fill that spot superbly for a number of years, Honda would be very unwise to ignore that as the other marques will be all too happy to snap up dissafected sports tourer types that won't be forced onto a Sporty or Tourer.
