Why is the Blackbird so fookin GOOD !!!

Daft question really, but recently I looked at replacing the 1998 Blacky with something newer and shinier (made up word).
So I sat down and looked at the bikes I thought maybe in with a shout.
Top of my list was the Rocket 3, then I read all the reports and some honest opinions and although I would get one if I won the Lottery (fat chance there) it seems seh would just not do the job, Too big and heavy for the daily commute thu traffic, pillion and luggage carrying capacity severly limited and even worse to keep clean than my old K7 was.
Looked at the Yammy MT01 as well, but again, although a nice bike, still won't do everything my Blacky will, again same problem as above.
Triumphs new Sprint, thought it looked nice till I saw it with luggage and it looked bloody awful, the lines on it made it look like everything was stuckon with chewy, maybe nice enough for commuting but not for long distance mile munching.
So I got back to my old bird (not the wife this time).
Touring - undoubtably one of the best around, with years of espreiance I know she'll carry me, the missus and all the luggage for further than I'll ever go in perfect comfort.
Commuting - Again, from years of filtering and generally annoying box drivers I know she'll more than match anything on the road (except for those dickhead scoot riders) especially with the mirrors folded in.
General fun - If I want to be really stoopid ( :yo: ) and have an illegal blast I know I can open her up and not get blown off the back.

So, what can I do !!

Looks like I'll be spending the winter on the Tiger and then come Spring the Blacky will come out again and give me a nice warm feeling, as if it was new all over again.

Money stays in my pocket (till Mr Honda does a decent replacement) anf I'lljust have to add a few more bits'n'pieces cos, I don't want to get rid of the old Bird after all, or the bike !! man8um

Thank you and goodnight !

Its actually worse than that ! I keep trying to convince myself I need to replace my Y2K one.. but what on earth for !!
It is as good as the day I got it.. still satisfys my lust for huge miles and pretty fast top speeds.. ( and economy as well which is amazing ! )

Hi Russ

I play the "what if" games too and still can't find anything to replace what the 'bird gives me - a real case of "fitness for purpose". I quite fancy the latest Speed Triple or a Benelli TNT but these have serious disadvantages too.

If Jennie ever flagged away coming on the back, that would be the time I'd most likely look at something else, probably a new Fireblade. However, that isn't likely to happen anytime soon so I can stick with the 'bird!

When Kiwi Rider mag tested the latest 'bird this month, they commented that they'd looked at www.superblackbird.co.uk and reckoned that owners bordered on fanaticism - reckon they were right an' all :} :} :}

[font=&quot]R1 - As practical as a condom in a monastery
TNT - As reliable as having Elvis as a milkman (but so sexy and fast, the bike that is)
Rocket - More torque than James Whale on speed, as practical as a TNT
Blackbird - everything I've ever wanted in a bike. Powerful, mile muncher, eye catcher, practical and owning one has increased my penis size by 4 inches.:-:

2005 Blackbird that's just been released here is gorgeous. I sat on it yesterday at my local Honda shack (www.casbolts.co.nz). Pretty much identical to my '04 apart form having raised a raised 3D XX sticker and a mottled seat.

Steve, yeah the tigger is a damn good bike, hauls my ass thu the Scottish winter with no problem and we went 2 up down to Hinckley last May and it was a great ride BUT once the dry warm roads return you keep wanting to get back on the Blacky ! There is no way I'd use the Blacky in the winter, especially with the amount of salt they throw down here cos it would disappear in a mo (like every other sportsbike) and the Tiger seems to shrug it all off with help from Jaws magic aircraft stuff and Scottoilers new stuff, it also suits my riding style in the winter where its dark coming into work and going home on my 60 mile round trip commute, with mud and slime all over the road, so I'd never knock it, just luv the Blackbird so much. Just have to wait to see what thje 'so called' new Blackbird eventually looks like, if it ever does ! c7u8

You'll love this: got a hardcore, older Harley rider to shut up long enough to take the XX out for a short spin...

.... he spent the next hour trying to buy me beers and convince his wife that maybe they should see if they could find one....apparently, it's not the "demon Jap crap" that they'd believed....

...er...in case you're wondering, I like it too.

thankyouverymuch.
