Why do women like Gold

My daughter has just asked me "What you getting mam for christmas"

I replied "Dunno"

I was then informed that she would like a gold chain (wives are very subtle with hints aren't they?)

My wife has about 50 gold chains, bracelets, pendants, rings etc. already so why the hell would she want any more.

The only jewellery I wear is my wedding ring, one gold chain, and my watch, any more is a waste

Ok, I have a confession to make..
It will come as no surprise to you that I m not exactly fashion aware.. in fact I do not give a toss what I wear as long as it does the job and or covers my bits..

About 5 years ago I was given a Tag Heuer Profesional something or other by the firm I was leaving.. Good service etc etc.. Well I thought it was ugly and prefered my Seiko..
As I said, not too fashion aware and I had never heard of Tag..
So I gave it away to someone who needed a watch !

About two years ago I bumped into the guy.. would you believe he gave it back to me :p
Still got no idea of the value or even if its real ( but cannot see the company I was working for dealing with any street corner joe bloggs ! )
It has a serial number on the back.. what shoulod I look for to figure out if it is snide or real ?

That suggests it's something notable John. I'd get it checked out before you give it away again mate.

If you dont wanna do that..... give it to me and I'll take a chance on it. You have my address... :p

I bought a Krug Baumen oceanmaster watch off ebay for ?30 it came with box/certificate/serial number etc, the oceanmaster are the very latest of the Krug Baumen range and are advertised in BMW and Mercedes magazines for ?500, it came from a Krug baumen dealer so how come I got it for ?30, is it a good fake? or do BMW and Mercedes rip people off for hundreds of pounds I don't know all I know is I paid ?30 for a good quality watch that keeps good time, and that'll do for me

My wife's the same but with Silver, she must have thousands of quids worth. The advantage of course is that whenever she has a go at me for having two bikes and a car that is as practical as a chocolate fire surround, I can use the jewelrey as leverage. At least my toys serve some kind of function !

Women, doncha just love 'em ! :p

Oh well, looks like I'm the odd one out on here (from a female point anyway).

I love my jewellery and in my eyes you can never have to much !!! at the moment im on my third jewellery box, each one being bigger than the previous.

May be it's cos iv always looked at it that if anything ever happened to me I don't have any savings, stocks or bonds etc so at least I know the kids will have something, not much I know but its something when I'm gone, they can either keep it or sell it the choice is there's there's, other than a couple of bits that are to be kept in the family and passed down through the generations........

As for everything else I own it all goes to Steve, even my debts......  luv yah babe :k :k

I think "someone" is in for a nasty shock if they think that they will get anywhere near what they paid for jewellery, so barring buying gold "ingots", second hand jewellery may not be the "investment" a lot of people think it is!! just try taking a "piece" to have it valued, and then try asking for the money,!!! two completely different results!! :dunno:

It depends how much you paid, if you pay high street retail prices then you may as well throw your money away, my gold chain and some of bev's gold was purchased at an auction of a jewellers that went bust, for instance my chain had a retail price of ?525.99 I got it for ?40, took it to a Jeweller just to find it's value and he offered me ?195, robbing bastards or what,

Another auction we went to was for an off license that had gone into....LIQUIDATION :} we were after some drinky poos for our silver wedding anniversary we came away with over ?1400 worth for less than ?400

Maybe I gave you the wrong impression :dunno: I ain't no coach potato when it comes to jewellery!! other than jewellery thats been bought for me I generally always buy second hand cos you get better value, I also buy alot of jewellery from Turkey (well I buy a bit, but steve buys me the dearer stuff).....LOL there gold starts from 14ct (they don't do 9ct gold) and I know from experience that its worth more when we get back home!!!

I would like to think that the kids would like to keep all the jewellery I leave them, but if they was hard up I know there's a few grand there and I'm always adding to it...........

Does this the matter up a bit clearer for you my dear...... %$fan man8um
