We’re away on a short break in West Wales with Twatbag and Tit head. After a walk on the coastal path, past the little place where Dylan Thomas did his poetry thing, we ended up in a dog-friendly coffee shop. Mrs P ordered scones (she pronounced it incorrectly, the singular rhyming with ‘gone’); she puts the jam on first, I put the cream on my scone (rhyming with bone) first.

Who was correct?

You can't argue with that, it's the correct way to both pronounce & prepare it

Not only can you not pronounce it you get the jam & cream the wrong way round

Definitely scone as in cone
Definitely jam on first then cream

End of discussion

I’m in Mrs. P’s camp, she’s correct in most things she says. (It’s always safest to not upset the memsahibs by disagreeing) and of course she is totally correct with pronunciation and jam on first.

Fact.

Although for the sake of a peaceful existence Mrs P should be pronounced correct, it is obviously you that has it right

Sigh…….:facepalm::facepalm::facepalm::facepalm:. Ffs, this was discussed ages ago and pure physics dictates you can get more cream on the scone without the jam underneath, the cream is the underpinning of the whole structure and the whole point of the exercise.
It’s called a CREAM tea boys and girls not a feckin jam tea.
Besides it looks better with a splash of colour on the top seemples.
I’m with poo plop on this one.

If it's a CREAM tea, why do you hide it underneath the jam?
