Yep - Steptoe's got it..........it's the machinery you're riding - going from the total dog of a BlackBird that Kylie was to a Suzuki VStrom that immediately blows up is enough to have put anybody off - it's time for a bike that's gonna "grab you by the cockles and tell you dirty jokes"...........

Mike's already mentioned the ZX12R in PMB & Gold being the bike that may just float his boat - (trust me it will) BUT, they don't have to be expensive - it's a little known fact that used one's are one of the best bargains out there at the moment...................NOT good news for me, but could be GREAT news for you Mike............

Apart from the 12 blitzing the competition in every area on the test, they also voted it best buy - change from ?6,600 anyone...........?? Apparantly so...........cheaper than a Bird, a Busa, and a ZZR1200...........

if you never read the full article in Bike Mike, a mate's hosted it for me:

http://bikepics.plant-tec-municipal.co.uk/biketest.htm

It's a bit of a biggie so be patient before trying to scroll down...........

Give it a rest

If you are that fed up with it, go do something else. A change is as good as a rest. However keep a bike in the garage.......just in case.

Most of my riding is just that, riding, going from A to B. But then I get one good ride which makes all the rest very much worthwhile.

I had a long lay off from bikes for various reasons. Sitting in traffic I would still look with envy at riders passing onthe outside. Bought a bike never looked back since.

It is your blood until the day you die. It's just sometimes the blood is a little thin.

Whatever you decide, it will be the right choice for you. That is the most important thing.

The other thought I had was maybe to just go completely off-beam and get yourself a bike you wouldn't have thought of before. I don't know your history so obviously can't suggest something in particular, but I do find taking my old Beemer out for a pootle is very refreshing. It makes for a totally different experience where what you get out of it is often a stark contrast to the Bird, say. I wonder if Cyclops has found anything similar now he's forced onto a cruiser? QUOTE]

Hate to say this Clive, but I did go off-beam when I bought the VStrom! My last few bikes were FJ1200, Daytona 1200, Thunderace, Blackbird, ZX9, and running alongside those was the TRX and a VFR750 for a short time. Then one day I found myself doing some stupid speeds along a road I knew reasonably well and got to thinking "I need to slow down a bit, otherwise my licence and I are only going to be distant acquintances".
So I looked around and thought "how about a big trailie for a while?" and got an excellent deal (at the time) on the VStrom, and was all set to "do Europe in comfort". Whether the fact that the VStrom has been less than 100% ...

has got anything to do with the way I'm feeling, I don't know. Maybe.
The TRX is a hoot to ride, and although it is need of a carb tune-up to clear a little flat spot, but when I was out over the weekend, a guy came over and said " hey that's tidy ..... for an old bike". It's 8 years old, and whilst not exactly past it, despite me spending a fortune on it (I shudder to think how much) it IS an old bike now. But when I try to part-ex it, I get offered very low trade-in, but then I see real dogs being sold in the dealers at twice the mileage, poor condition, no history etc, for over ?2500!

So having reflected during the day, I think I must bite the bullet and part company with the TRX, either privately or as a trade-in, take the hit and move on.

But as Steptoe says "replace it with what?" This may well instill some enthusiasm again, I bloody well hope so.

Wolfie also mentioned about fliting from bike to bike, and that may be a contributing factor, as I've not been able to get to know one bike very well recently, with the VS off the road, and my dealer loaning my a number of different machines as and when I need/wanted them, although the hayabusa was fun.

I'm off to the Harz Mountains over the next week or so, Andrea has taken the keys so that I don't forget them this time, c7u8 , so it will be interesting to see how I feel after some fresh mountain air has blown away the cobwebs.

Maybe then I'll go and see about that ZX12 .... Bird .... Ace .... etc etc !

You simply have to do what you feel is right for you...........It's about you and nobody else.

It's nothing to do with your bike M8

It's because you have fallen completely in love with your gorgeous German totty you can think of nothing else other than her, your just love struck mate, remember when you were 13 ?...no I thought not, too long ago.

What I suggest is that you get married as soon as possible so that the sex stops almost immediately , then you will want to go for a ride on your bike.
But you had better get a decent bike like a Blackie first.

Hope this helps
