Had a ride to Ambleside then over Kirkstone Pass on the Birdy. Went home and had Black pudding mushroom and sausage sarnies fer breakfast.

Had a visit from the wife's parents who walked it round to see us, I gave them a lift back home as they are both about 90 and strugling a bit these days. I then continued on and visited me mum at the care home and took her to her house to collect some vital card making equipment from her craft room, took her back to the care home in time for her lunch at 12:00.

Went home to chill out for the rest of the day and had visits from both our sons who both brought their daughters with em... A perfeck Sunday

Just returned from walkies, it Was rather pleasant walking around the park in the slight rain, still rather warm though. Vet this afternoon as she is not feeling too good, keeps being sick and very loose. I’ll put it down to the hot weather, it’s too much for someone with so much fur coverage

Stripped out the bog in the en-suite that started leaking a few weeks beforewe had our flood. More rubbish plumbing, pipe from cistern to back of loo cut too short and the joined bunged up with a handful of Hawk White.

Currently mulling over whether to knock a hole in the internal, wall, that on which the cistern is hung (fortunately garage other side) to get good access or to,see if I can make a proper job of it without resorting to all that. Could split the supply pipe and put a joint in to extend it but not overly keen in adding additional joints where access is so poor.

Bev thought it would be a good idea to treat the Budster & Elsie to a Deer hoof each, both sat happily munching, suddenly Elsie goes into the garden, eats a bit of grass, comes in & promptly throws up a horrible white frothy goo all over the front room rug.

So with a bit of lateral thinking around dismantling part of the cistern I made a superb job of fitting a new seal to the pan without bucketloads of hawk white or any other crap.

Well chuffed.

Put it all back together, opened the supply valve and checked there were no leaks (as if….)……..and the effing siphon in the cistern had stuck open letting the water go straight through into the pan. so I switch the supply off, wondered how the hell I am going to get to that, thought I woukd switch it on again and all seemed well. Until the third flush when the effing thing stuck open again. Went through the same performance again, it seems to be ok now…..but I’m not holding my breath…..

why is everything so difficult?

The later plastic ones can twist and lift to be taken out.

With great care - it's plastic

Changing the siphon is a piece of wotsit….getting to it is the issue! It’s a concealed system and the only access is to take the top of the vanity unit off….and I have absolutely no idea how to do that - it doesn’t look or feel like it is ‘glued’ down, there is a tiny (as in a millimetre or two) of ‘up and down’ movement at the front but it feels pretty solid as if there are mechanical fixings….but I can’t see any!

Doesn't the front panel with the flush button just pop forward? I'd try it gently though!

Yes, the top panel does come out but there is not enough space between the top of the cistern to even get a hand in let alone access the siphon.

im just hoping that it’ll sort itself out…the cistern has been empty for about five months, hopefully there is just a bit of dirt/limescale lurking somewhere that will get flushed through.

If not we will just have to keep using the other two toilets

It should be fixed onto the carcass, but
that looks like it's a base unit only?
How do you stop water running off the
edge and down the back? That's a huge
gap.

I just thought you could get a torch or inspection camera in there to see how the top is fixed. My guess is it's blobbed on with silicon. Good luck! I agree though - it's most likely a bit of limescale. I'd get Mrs B to flush it every now and again and report back while you go and play golf.

It really doesn’t ‘feel’ like silicone and I can’t see any that has squished out anywhere.

if the siphon keeps, sticking I will get the inspection camera out. Always enjoy using that as the mother in law paid for it when I was trying to track down a water leak in her massive bungalow that she can’t maintain but I’m not bitter.

Just been to see the vet with miss Molly, she’s been checked over thoroughly and he’s confirmed my suspicions that it’s to do with the excess heat we’ve had. So she’s got some medicine to soothe her throat from when she’s been sick, I’m to carry on trying to get her to take her Prokolin meds, and 4 worming tabs for when we come back from France to get the local vet to give her as part of the return requirement. That’ll be £93 please. They certainly know how to charge, trained by dentists I reckon

It's a labrador. Smear it with peanut butter. Mine would eat a turd if it was covered in that.
