Hi mate
Welcome to the site,
I bought an 04 Matt black (the best) in February, I paid ?6,300 plus I got them to throw ?600 worth of gear in, so I think they can come down on the price a bit and get yerself some extras.

w;;v Welcome to the forum and (hopefully) to 'Bird ownership!

The bike - go for it, you know it makes sense!
The price - Ouch!

It's definately on the high side, although from the pic' it looks to have a Wingrack on? Any other extra's?
Scotoiler, heated grips, bubble, alarm/immobiliser? If any not already there try and get them included.

At that age & mileage it's not really loosened-up properley yet so the motor should be sweet and rattle-free. Check HPI and all the usuall visuals, presumably it has a full history, if not, why not?

Good Luck!!

first of all, welcome blackbird....with that name you'd better get one eh!

nice looking bike(apart from the colour...only joking derek)but as has been said,a bit pricey.a mate and forum user recently bought an 04 silver one with 6k on it,completely standard apart from D/B screen and a carbon hugger and baglux cover, showroom condition for 6 grand, although that was a private sale.

should be able to get them down a bit,and/or throw in some"extra's" with the deal.

good luck

Hi BB,

I agree with the guys, that seems a bit pricey.
I bought a 12 month old Bird, in black, with 4000 miles, alarm/imobiliser, tank harness and bag, touring scotoiler and hugger all for ?6000. The deals are out there if you look. I think you can get a new import for not much over ?7200.

Yeah but when you add the cost of a good coating of Matt black it puts the price up a bit, :p

Putting this into perspective.. It is a 1 year old ?8450 bike that is as new and going for a couple of grand less..
If you are gonna buy from a dealer then I think that is a fair price to pay ( but then I am trade so do sort of have a different view to others I spose :p ! )

When I bought mine it was one year old (just) and had 2,060 miles on it.

Dealer wanted almost 7,000 - ended up getting it for 6,250.

You'll only find out what they really want once you get to serious talking with them and wave the readys.

Good value at the end of it is if you are happy with what you pay. The dealer won't let it go at a price he's not happy with so he's always likely to consider the deal good value.

Good secondhand blackbirds are apparently well liked in the trade (so I'm told) as they don't sit around for long.

Ride magazine are currently using a ZX12R on long term loan when they really wanted a blackbird but couldn't get their hands on one.

Welcome to the Blackbird site blackbird.

Great bike whatever you buy. The only downside to the matt black one is it becomes gloss black where your clothing touches it a lot, eg rear of tank. Other than that buy, ride, and enjoy

Have just bought one of the faster matt black ones, 11months old, 3500 miles, hugger, m'rooms & DB screen. Private sale for ?6000..................

All I'll say is that an item is worth as much as your willing to pay for it......having now ridden mine for 700 miles I'd quite happily pay a load more...it's great and if your old like me those bar risers from blackbird spares are ace

Just get it and overtake all those blue & red ones, lol:neenaw:

thanks guys, a lot of good advice,I'm of on a tour tomorrow to austria, so when I get back I will make some kind'a "plan" :} most likely try and sell my bike privately, give that say 6 or 8 weeks, if it sells I could then buy private, and if it won't sell then I will go for a trade in, take care you lot and ride safe all the best ..bb...
