learn to fly a plane,

Me too Ian, but my handicap is the old asthma, which means I can never go solo. Ferkin cats are what do it, get me wheezing and me eyes running. :bandit:

How often do you see a cooking fat in the cockpit of an aeroplane.

I know you're strapped for cash, what with the garage and fridge and stuff, :violin: but check out the back pages of the pilot mags in WHSmith. Go to the good old old US of A and you may find it's quite a bit cheaper than doing it here, and their prices usually include the accommodation and food for the 2 or 3 weeks that you're there.

What would I like to do apart from learn to fly?

Whale watching in Canada, swim with dolphins, and be fit enough to ride the Tour de France!!!!!!

easy for me, to ride the bird legally. to be able to get up on a sunny sunday morning and just get on the bike and ride anywhere would be a dream come true, stop for lunch somewhere and just enjoy the experience of the bird and me alone.. bev

Errr... surely this would be the best time to go? Why pay a loan for five years and THEN disappear into NZ, if you know what I mean! :}

Without doubt go into space and beyond.. to at least see what is happening in close by star systems and maybe even meet other life forms.. Might be corny, but 'to boldly go' springs to mind .. :blush:

I'd like to be able to go for regular ride-outs with my old man, 'cos he's so much quicker & safer than me :B
I can't 'cos he lives in Spain :rolleyes:

Ill trade ya, as I have wanted to tour your neck of the woods too :yo:

Yes, learning to fly is a dream. I have been a pilot for a couple of years and there is nothing else I would rather do. Getting paid to do it (not yet, but soon 8ree! ) is just icing on the cake :-:

I think I would recommend comming over here too for training, as I believe it would be much cheaper as there are numerous flight schools so you would get a better price.

I know a couple of guys who got their PPL's at a flight school in Orlando. Worked out nearly ?1800 cheaper, including flights and accom. Although you do have to pass and obtain certain certification, on return to UK, to fly here.
It's not so much the cost of getting a PPL, but the cost maintaining it and regular flying.

I'm with Jaws

.... but if I can't do that, the big plan within the next 3-5 years is to go on a trip to Antarctica on one of those converted Russian icebreakers and also go kayaking there, weather permitting. c7u8
