I am gobsmacked.
Seems i had a pension plan started with the Pru, waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back in 1989.
These peeps have tried to track me down via letters over the years and i'm thinking it's
some sort of scam (what an insecure world we live in) anyhow, i recieved a letter today
from the Pru with my policy number attached, all i have to do is re-register and have a look see.
Five mins later and armed with a conformation e-mail i'm in the Pru's website with an estimated value of........
Well, i ain't telling you lot, but it is quite a substantial sum. Let's just say i could walk into any bike dealer
and purchase a top spec model and still have change....Not much change, but some to play with.
Now then, i cannot remember the last time i contributed to this bond and it seems there are no details
on the website as yet, but i think i would like to re-contribute some of my income and re-start the top up.
Any views or advice on my fortuitous plans...Feel free.

if it’s fortuitous that smacks of doing something akin to peeing it up the wall, maybe something you wouldn’t normally do? Last time I looked a spin in t(e two seat spitfire was about £4500….

Amazing how pension funds grow over time - Mrs B has just had her pension from eight years employment in the 1980’s - that too was a very tidy sum

My father in law (before he passed away) started a policy when he started his business probably in the 50’s-60’s …. After about a year he was stuck for cash and decided not to continue paying
A few years ago before he passed away …. He had a letter saying they were looking for him (which is strange as he lived in the same house since he set up his business, worked, retired and subsequently sold the business)
Cutting the story short …. He had quite a handsome lump some PLUS a pension of a few hundred a month.
He worked it out that he paid less in total, than the pension he now received each month …. That’s not including his lump sum …

Hindsight is a wonderful thing !!
If he had carried on paying he COULD have been very wealthy indeed !

Depends which Xbox One he's got. The original Xbox One isn't that much of a step up, The Xbox One S is better, but if it were me then I'd go for the Xbox One X which is the best and last of the 3rd generation Xboxes. The Xbox One S and Xbox One X both support 4K, but the One X does a much better job of it.

Or get a Playstation 4 Pro instead. (y)

The xbox one x has no disc drive, my daughter doesn’t want to be downloading games, it’s the “S” that he’s got.

Both the X and the S have a disk drive. You're thinking of the All digital S, which has no disk drive.

I sold thousands of Pru w/p pensions until he FSA stopped with profits on the basis that charges were not specific. They have never dropped in value although the payout varied from year to year. I have never met anyone who was unhappy with the growth although the annuity rates plummeted. The Tory government sorted that out by allowing peeps NOT to buy an annuity.

Good thread, this. Made me realise that I hadn't notified two of the companies with whom I hold pensions that we moved house two years ago.
