Hi John – thanks for the welcome (y)

Got rid of these two a few years back…

…Now got these two –

Got the ‘Bird in 2015 with two miles less than 14K on the clock…
…just passed 70K this week – not bad as I retired in 2016, so no commutes… :campeon2:
Don't do as much touring as we used to – but still the odd trip, here and there.

Got the R1 as a trackday toy and it’s a nutter, but I still miss me owd Suzuki :crybaby2:
(which is still on the road according to the DVLA vehicle check).

But more importantly... are you gonna take on @Pow-Lo in the boob picture stakes ?

…Must confess, I’m pretty-much “boobed out” these days… :eusa_whistle:

…so no need to wonder how I’ve been passin’ the time!!

Errrm… I don’t know what “wordsmithing” means and me name’s not “expertise”
…but I’m sure we can work summat out – let’s see what the future brings, eh?! :crazylick:

Welcome back

Thanks, Minkey (I always knew it was you!) :ladiesman:

Welcome back DA, you have been missed by the more intellectual of us.

No probs, Del. I’m really pleased that my “weathergirl” post seems to have lowered the standards on the site back down to where they used to be! :aaaaa:

Good to hear from ya, pal! (y)

Did you have an R6 way back when ?
Gonna have to sell the Bird cos I am petrified of dropping it at a standstill so I never take it out
Ws thinking of an R6 cos its so small and light and still has a semi-worthwhile top end

...You may as well get an R1...(y) Anything feels small and light after you've had a 'Bird.:pancarta:

Mate, for the past year I have been riding a CB500-X !!

Yea, well…sort out different bars, sort the pegs and fit a comfort seat to an R1…
…and you’ve got pretty much twice the potential of the CB500 but with the same
comfort levels.

I was lucky because adjustable clip-ons and footpegs were already on mine
when I bought it. Now, it feels more like a little touring bike when I’m on the
road. Everything’s in the right place and I have no problem pottering about,
but the power and agility’s there instantly when I start feeling a bit giddy.

Oddly enough, when I get back on the ‘Bird, I find the bulk and the weight
reassuring – but both bikes are smooth, strong and vibe-free, and that’s
what makes them both such a pleasure to ride and to own.

Try the six and the litre Yams. You might find there’s a bit less room to play
with on an R6, which can be a little bit disconcerting – and there’s a lot less
weight, which can be downright scary if your throttle hand/brain connection
decides to go walkies for a while.

I got the 2006 5VY because (I think) it’s the most beautiful of all the R1’s. It’s
also a roomy, powerful, responsive bike that mirrors all the best attributes of
the Brilliant Honda Blackbird, even down to the build quality – and that’s a rare,
rare thing indeed.

Go on… …You know you want to…!

They certainly are small. Tiny in fact.

I had one for a track day at Brands and it was weird having no bike at all in front of my eye line.. Quite disconcerting in fact. Didn't like it at all, although the motor and brakes were excellent.

Brought back a few memories for me of when I first tracked me Gixxer. Same thoughts. (y)

Set it up so that it suits you (Sir!) – spend a bit of time getting to know it and soon
you’ll be as competently fluid on it as you are on your CB500-X. The R1’s a sportsbike
(obviously), but as I said earlier it’s roomy – which also makes it adaptable if you’ve got
the time and patience to blend with it. (y)
