when touring but cannot afford to buy a new seat even though Melboys etc are reasonably enough priced then this may be the answer for you;

http://www.putnams.co.uk/travel.htm

I have just trawled ukgser.com site and found this link under product reviews and it seems at the fraction of the cost of an Airhawk you can get the comfort you need.

Its the Stadium version that is recommended at ?6.99 and if you look at the comments at that price it has to be worth a try. I ordered one and then went onto Lamblands site to order a sheepskin.

Going to the TT and France next year could be an even better experience now.

on your bike, lack of self propelled movement i should think.

LOL ! Reason I mentioned it.....I had a similar thing on one of me bikes, great if you don't move around on the seat but if you shifted your arse about the thing tried to slide off.

Oh....and it fell off every time you got off the bike. Tried straps but it looked a mess, tried velcro but that didn't work.

you can get a gel pad that straps to the top of your seat - have a look at m&p for it

ASCAR...

thanks for the advice but I have been there and it was a waste of money.I never brought mine from M & P but it was exactly the same and it was a disaster.

http://stores.shop.ebay.co.uk/lynne101060__W0QQ_armrsZ1

If you click on this link you will see where I brought mine from.

Having tried it, unlike the item I am now waiting to receive, which you can self inflate to get it right for you and at ?6.99 it is worth a try, you cannot adjust the gel pad. I fitted it and it felt so dangerous that I question the validity of selling it to use on a motorcycle. And when I tried to return it I then because there was no returns address had to track an address down of where you can make enquiries about this item and I had to return it physically to this address which meant a round trip of over 100 miles. It turned out that this address was where their accountant lives and they were not pleased with me in returning it to there. In the end I did not receive a full refund and I could not leave negative feedback because they are a superseller.
So if your thinking of going down the gel pad route mu advice is don't bother.

Although I've now got a cheaper Airhawk (very handy for my sore coccyx on my office chair) I did used to use a sheepskin on my old R1150GS. I just used a cargo net to hold it in place.

I ordered an Airhawk direct from USA. It worked out about ?70 including import tax etc. Anything over 2 hours and I start to suffer so it's a godsend. My wife and I, both on Airhawks, went around Europe this year (3000 miles in 2 weeks) with no problems even after the wife had broken her coxsyx (I think that is how you spell it) 4 months earlier.
Good bit of kit. Top tip don't over inflate it. You only need a little air in it so your arse is just above the seat. That way it doesn't feel like you are riding on a lilo.

This genuine bloke is brilliant with seats. Prices are ridiculously low ( he has been told too) and quick service.

well every ass is different some like sheepskin and some like gel seats and custom seats i have commuted from home to cambridge and it worked fine for me 400 miles each way. some guys use bead seats. for helmets most say you either have an arai heas or a shoei head and it is the same with your arse- gell or whatever
