VTEC Blackbird.

As some of you know, I have a regular column in one of the National bike magazines (not EMAP), and a press release has just landed on the mat from Honda.

The VTEC Blackbird is being launched later this year contrary to earlier reports that it was being put on the back burner until at least 2005.

No confirmation of exact date as yet, but I have been asked to go to the launch which at the moment looks like it will be Spain, and I will report back as soon as I get any further info.

I don't know at the moment, as I haven't actually seen the press release, I only got a phone call from the magazine this morning.

I will get it sent through to me and have a proper look and let you know what is in there.

According to MCN The Vtec Engine is a similar design to the ones they are using in their cars.

It maybe getting only 7 bhp but the torque will be up from
87.8ft-lb to 100ft-lb.

Vtec engine, probabley bigger service bill.

Makes me laugh - all they talk about is the engine..........there's nothing wrong with the engine - it's a great motor.

It's the suspension, chassis and brakes that need changing to improve the bike, and the headlight!

To answer that question
Honda have do some work on the rear suspention, again according to MCN the new bird is getting the same setup as the CBR600 RR or the RCV MotoGP bike.
that will be the best improvement from what I've seen on the CBR600 RR, I think the new Fireblade, whoops CBR1000RR has got the newish rear setup.

Whats wrong with VTEC, More usable power and Tourqe and an upgraded rear suspention anyways :dunno: mind you I agree the Brakes and headlight needs a bit of a look over .



At the end of the day if peeps don't like what Honda offers there is ........................
