Not been myself, but if I was going I would look on trip adviser first and then go and buy a lonely planet guide or similar.

i will try to post a link for a m8s son who has travelled there extensively and kept a detailed blog.

She actually thought she was going to lose him to Cambodia, he enjoyed it so much

My Niece and her fella went there for a while during the eastern leg of their trip, they reckoned it was brilliant, they did some fairly detailed write ups in their blog which might be of use to ya? ... The Vietnam/Cambodia bit is near the bottom of the list as it was quite early on in the tour.

My Fiancee's niece is on a thailand / vietnam and cambodia tour as we speak. From the comments she has put to her mum and sisters both vietnam and cambodia are amazing places and as safe as other places as long as you do not stray into certain areas. But thats normal for all places even in more civilised places like the states and indeed uk.

Plan it yourself, far cheaper than going thru travel agents.
We planned both our trips to Thailand over the tinternet, no problems at all and cheaper and more satisfying than travel agents....unless your just going for ideas :dunno:
we are looking at going to Vietnam, huge country, just have to pick where you want to see. My mates just come back I'll get some info off him.

No worries. Check the rainfall pattern for when you plan to go as it might well be the rainy season. We went on a limited numbers tour (just 4 of us actually). The reason we did this was that although the major items were all planned for us, it gave us flexibility and time to do our own thing too. We used Active Asia which is an NZ-based company with offices in Vietnam so they have people on the ground. Can't speak highly enough of them and we've done a lot of travelling. At some stage, we'll go back and do the N-W highlands and the Mekong Delta. We simply ran out of time this time round.

If you want any more info, just send me an email - it's on the blog.
