Fitted some VTec bars over the weekend - as easy as everyone said provided you cut off the locking tabs on the clutch and brake cylinders to allow a little movement of the banjo couplers.
I also added a plastic cover over the throttle cables as they bent under the top yoke - they were showing signs of wear.
First impressions are very favourable (just as well really since I coughed up ?160 for them!) - gives a more comfortable upright position and a bit more leverage on the bars.
Only downside is that the extra height seems to have put my head right in the turbulence from my Givi screen - I may try putting the original back on to see if its any better. I do like the lack of windblast at speed though so perhaps its time to try another screen - this is getting expensive!
Anyone come across this problem?

Hi have just read your thread on fitting vfr 800 v tech bars,seems to be the only way to go, I am tempted myself to fit the same, just wish their was a cheaper way to rise the bars, did you have to extend the brake hoses etc, would be interested on your overal comments. cheers.

No need to extend hoses, just cut off the locking tabs and loosen the couplings so you can move the banjo's.
Whole job took me about an hour - don't forget to put a thick rag over the tank etc just in case you drop something!
If you didn't want to buy new bars then you can raise the existing ones by about 15mm just by removing the split ring, loosening the allen bolts and sliding the bars up on the yoke.
Probably worth trying before you invest in new bars etc - it may give you an idea as to whether you're going to like the change.

Actually, cutting the front aligning tabs mainly allows you to move the banjo fittings a bit forward in order to properly clear the bars.

To get a few extra inches of clutch line, you need to loosen the bolt that holds the small box that's part of the left side front brake line to your frame. If you look in front of your gas tank to see where the clutch line pipe goes...you'll see it.

Just slip the clutch line pipe out of its mounting spot and retighten the bolt. You should have a nice slack clutch line now.

Also... I don't know what's involved for you to purchase parts in the U.S. but, most of us in the states purchase the VTEC VFR bars from www.ronayers.com. They run around ?116 for the set.

I also have tried the Givi and OEM screen (2001 version) and find that the Givi with Saeng Edging along the top offers the best wind protection for me. I'm 5'10".
