Please help- How do you tell if a bike has been registered as a write off/damaged repaired? Is the info on the log book or a list somewhere?

good looking AND modest
you can find out

by phoning the AA / RAC ? MCN, they all have a ''dedicated'' search engine to find out, BUT they charge about ?30 to ?45 quid to let you know, the number for the MCN one is ''obviously'' inthe rag,:}

well recommended you pay and find out,:bow:

You need to do...

... an HPI check if you have any suspicions. You should always do one anyway when buying privately, unless you personally know the history. You have to pay for it... but it stops you buying a dud or a ringer etc.

http://www.hpi.co.uk/tradeweb/

You could do an AA data check alternatively (?34.99 I think, cheaper if you are a member), but the HPI is the main one. Click the link above. About the same cost.

With the AA one you get certificates guaranteeing the data they give you. If it still turned out to be duff, they refund you the value on the cert, which is taken from glasses guide, showroon price!

Problem with bikes is that an awful lot never get reported as damaged thanks mainly to the fookin ridiculous insurance we have to pay in the event of a spill.
More and more peeps are just fixing them up themselves...
That's the bad news,, the good news is that as long as she is straight ( and thats where I would spend my money, having it checked properly ) it makes not a lot of odds..
Generally it will be on the log book if is is a cat A or B right off ( not sure about Cat C or D )

stan the man

you are not capable
blumeeni

did an h.p.i. check for my brother....only cost ?15 but not quite sure if he got it discounted 'cos he works for the A.A. :dunno:
but gotta be worth a try eh.but like jaws says, lots of peeps are
repairing them without informing their insurance company so there's no guarantee's.
