Unleaded or super unleaded

I reckon it would be interesting to put the same bike on the dyno with both fuels to see just what difference there is if any without the forced induction.

One of the bike mags recently did just that, don't ask me which one 'cause I can't be arsed to try and find it. I think they used either an R1 or ZX10r, ran it on normal then flushed the whole system and ran it on all-singing-all-dancing. On the dyno, the posh stuff gave 1bhp more, with just under 1lb ft extra torque. I don't think they did a long distance run to check the mileage differences. Basically bugger all difference power wise, but reputed to keep the engine cleaner and get more mileage.

You pays yer money and takes your choice..... :neenaw:

I tried both unleaded and optimax, I did notice a differance on mpg on my old ZXR, the optimax was better, but i've hardly noticed any differance on the BIRD. Think I managed an extra 5 miles on optimax so i'm not to fussed about it now, I just use the basic no frills unleaded.g0551p

stick with the standard jollop

the engine cal is designed to run on 95 RON...putting 98 in won't make a fat lot of difference on a bird - so don't bother....the bird lump is not a mega tuned lump so I personally wouldn't waste my money....

I used to run my old carbed bird with 40000plus with shell optimax
I filled it up one day when there was no 95ron available
It made such a difference to the smooth running and throttle response better mpg that I continued to use it
the bike had a k&n filter and full race cans fitted
I tried it on the next bird 04 inj model and hardly noticed any difference
I haven't tried it on my current bird but will next time I fuel up
peggy said he uses it on his 02 r1 and is very pleased
