Trip to Edinburgh

I've got to go to Edinburgh at the start of August for a conference in the city centre. I'll be travelling up during the day before from Birmingham and I'm keen to take a sceneic diversion on some roads north of Carilse and enjoy the new Bird a bit.

Any suggestions on:

  • Routes to take
  • Secure parking/places to stay when I get there.

Cheers

Andy.

Coming off the M74 at junc.15 and go through Moffat, nice place for a wee walk around. Then head north on the A701, crackin road through the "Devil's Beef Tub"
As for places to stay...not too sure about that one.
John.

The A7 is good as well.

Moffat to Selkirk, A708 via St Marys Loch is very nice also, road condition a bit ropey to start with at the Moffat end but crackin' route. If you then took the B709 at the Gordon Arms Hotel this'll get you to the A7 at Gorebridge.....not many folks will approach E'burgh this way,if weather's good(8rfl@) you'll get a nice view of the city from the Moorfoot Hills.

Was this one of those "cos I can" moments where you think "fuck it, I think I'll just go out for a ride, I've got a few hours to spare so let's go to Scotland"?
