The death of a baby is huge news all over India at the moment.
Ok, so a baby dies every minute of every day, sad but true. So why is this one such a headline grabber?
A four day old baby girl needed to be placed in a photo-therapy after she contracted jaundice.
The father was asked for 200 rupees for the treatment. He couldn't pay as he couldn't afford it. The medical staff told him to pay up or the baby would be removed from the photo-therapy unit.
The mother pleaded to continue the treatment as her husband was arranging the money. They ignored her, the baby's health went rapidly downhill during the day and that evening she died.
For 200 rupees.
I'd love to leave my boot print on the throat of the total cu.nt that made that decision.
Just so you know, 200 rupees is between ?2.50 and ?2.80, depending on the exchange rate.
The next time I hear some stupid teenager whingeing cos they can't afford the latest mobile phone, or they don't have enough money for a new top to go out on saturday night, I swear I'll bitch slap the fuckers to death.
