I generally check my tyre pressures after each session until I feel that I am some where up to speed. In this particular case the sessions where only about 8 laps and the track was 1.8 Ish miles long.

My pressures will not be of any use to any one because I do not know what they were cold before I went onto the track, the first time out was a three lap sighting session (speeds up to about 80Mph) My bike felt fine and the tyres were already a few Psi down from the Nurburg Ring.

There is no normal or average road temp, as once again there are so many variables. But whether your tyres are running with 42Psi in the middle of winter or 52Psi after a good ride in the middle of summer On the road this will be well within the tyres specs and will generally not really make a noticeable difference at road speeds.

I do understand what you are saying in your earlier posts Buzz, and to a large extent I fully agree with you, a lot of people do not ride a lot faster or lean a lot further than a fast road rider. Therefore completely pointless and in some cases down right dodgy to let air out of a tyre that is not working particularly hard in the first place.

All I know is even on my hardest road ride, my tyre never looks like it does after even a single track session and I also know that if I leave my tyres at standard pressure they slip and slide until I let some out :dunno:
Cheers Pete.
Well to appease all who have posted and to prove I have an open mind to change, the next track session I do I shall have a play with pressures once the tyre has got warm, but its knowing where to set it:dunno: .
I'm doing a fairly long hard ride on Saturday on normal roads, so I shall take the pressure at the end of it and see what its at.

This will give me a 'yardstick' of what the normal operating pressure of my tire/bike/weight setup is for this time of the year. I shall then reduce my track pressure to the pressure obtained on my Saturday ride and compare the two.

If its an improvement I will admit so on the forum, if I find it no different or unstable, I shall say so.

Cant be fairer than that now can I?

Good sport Allan - ya can't say fairer than that.
In the spirit of things, I'll take notes of pressures before and after sessions when I go on track.
Not as a yard stick for any one else but to show what worked for me.
Yeah?

whilst this is all very interesting if not a little boring now, what concerns me is that some folk will get far too hung up about tyre pressures, body position, feet position, ground clearance, not falling off or whatever and this will detract from the main point of doing a track day at Brands, which is surely to enjoy the day & just ride the bike.
My advice to Paddy, given that it's his FIRST track day is:
1. Relax
2. Listen to what the instructors say; they know more than you and me mate
3. At every session, warm the tyres up by completing at least 3 sighting laps (unless ya wanna borrow my tyre warmers :})
4. Learn the circuit lines & ride within your limits
5. Don't worry about what's behind you (turn in/tape up ya mirrors)
6. If you push it, only do so 5% at a time once you've learnt the lines
7. Re-hydrate between every session
8. Don't pig out at lunch time
9.If ya get ya self out of shape, don't panic, the bike will probably make it even if you think it won't.
10. Look where you want to go, not where you're going (i.e.look through the corner).

NO!!! It's not, you are not my weight
All I'm asking is what's the difference between hot and cold pressure GIVEN YOUR WEIGHT AND SPEED, which I DID mention in the earlier question!!!!!!!

That would give ME a reference on which to make a judgement with MY tyres/weight/conditions. At this moment there is no reference. Only abject disagreement and subsequent confusion.

I still feel a cancellation coming on :B There's too much at stake!

chill Rob, you're getting too hung up on the subject mate. There is no more at stake/risk than riding any day of the week on the road.

Repeating my earlier points

You can think too much and it fercks you up

Main thing is ENJOY YOURSELF

Good points Segnor Sanchez

I would also add

If you do feel knackered and sense your concentration going. Have a good rest or pack in early.

I found it extremely enjoyable but it was hard work. After 4 morning sessions I only did 1 session in the afternoon.
But there again I am nearer 50 than 45 and unfit.
