Thinking of either Friedrichshafen (D) or Interlaken (CH) on the way down to Lake Guarda (I) and some of the passes CAF put on then work our way back up. Late June early July for two weeks anyone interested?

Just spotted your post. I've always wanted to do the Italian Lakes, so please keep in touch if you still intend to go. I'm in Surrey not too far away from you. I'm on a slow/fast Red one though! (delete as appropriate) w;;v

Hi Guys!

Hi there Guys. I'm Stuart (48 and B'bird) and my Girlfriend is Sharon (32 and CBF600S). The aim next year is Lake Garda. Two weeks late June early July to avoid the school hols. We go Norfolk Line to Dunkerque then Lille, Mons, Namur, Luxembourg and into Germany. We plan to do it in two or three days, depending on state of our rear ends, transiting Austria via Innsbruck and the Brenner Pass to Trento and the Lake. Once there? We'll be staying at a camp site http://www.campingnanzel.it/prices.htm here for 4-5 days. The ride around the lake is a must and the passes in the area look tyre wearingly brilliant. On the way home? Depends on what we feel like. Good site at the North end of Zell am See which is in easy distance of the awsome Grosseglockner Alpine Strasse. Kms of absolute biking heaven. The way back is open to suggestion but we know a good camp site at Spa (Francorchamps) which is easy ride from the Nurburg Ring and Dunkerque for the last days. Anyway, there's a brief outline so it's up to you.

Regards, Stu & Sharon.

Hi mate,

We covered a lot of what you?re planning on our expedition this year.

I can recommend Meersburg for a quick visit on Lake Konstanz and also, if you?re heading anywhere near the Neuschwanstein Castle, have a quick spin around Plansee, absolutely beautiful, won?t take long to see and well worth it. Are you planning (or have you done) to do the B500 on your way to Konstanz?

We did Grossglockner on our way down to the Dolomites, have to say I preferred the ride away from the glacier towards Italy more. Heiligenblut was beautiful. As you say the ride down to Garda from there is superb on a bike, we were a bit stupid and did about 4 or 5 Italian passes as well as the Grossglockner in one day and were well shattered by the time we reached our base for the night.

It?s well worth checking out Alpineroads.com for details of the passes, lots of good info there.

We found some very nice towns and villages in the Dolomites and some very average places too. One that stood out for us was Corvara, but when we go again we won?t worry about booking anything, just stop at the place that takes our fancy, plenty of vacancy signs even in August! The dolomites are beautiful, my favourite mountain range so far, the way they change colour in the evening is just stunning.

We passed Limone but didn?t stop to look closely, it did look nice though, you?ve chosen the better end of the lake IMHO. If you?ve never been, the first view you get as you come in via Riva del Garda is breathtaking.

Are you planning on staying in Trento itself or just passing through?

Have to say I envy you the trip, we went on from Garda to Provence and then up through the Alps, but my favourite area was the Dolomites.

If you need any info or whatever, just ask.

Enjoy!

Italian Holiday

Hi CAD ! I'm still up for it , Oh yea! Considering your route I have a great location for a first night stop over in Belgium ! I'll pass on the details later, but very biker friendly and a location you wont forget ! Probably be just me
(53) but that leaves more room for luggage !!!!!

Look forward to making some more certain plans !

Hi all.

Waiting on Yoshibird and Minibird to finalise their holiday dates. Looks like it could be 7th July to 27th July. The only campsites we'll be booking is the one in Austria on Taxireds reply and the one on Lake Guarda.
We did two weeks in Austria, Switzerland and Germany this year and spent about ?200 camping and ?130 fuel plus food and beer. So not bad. The rest of the hols will be as it comes.

We have been talking about something like this, as we have never done it, but fancy the change.

Regarding the camping, do you take your own tents etc, or stay on sites where the tents are already erected.

Morning!

We'll be going over on the Tunnel due to an amount of Seasickness in the posse3ck04 ! All tents and everything that goes with them are on our bikes. We've got one each (bikes that is) so can help out with carrying within reason. We've also got a Vango Spirit 200 that we can take if anyone wants to use it. Small (check it on the web) but loads of room for 2 peeps. Cookers and cooking stuff we've got as well as what Yoshi and Mini are bringing. Bags n stuff are your prob I'm afraid. We're only 20mins from the Tunnel so if anyone wants to overnight here on floors n such no worries.
We're looking at ?700 to ?800 for the two weeks but should have change from that. Look forward to hearing from you all.
Regards, Stu & Sharon.
