I got my weekly update from one of big bulk suppliers in China today, with the headline product being basic face masks they are asking £23.00 each for.
This was my reply:

Absolutely disgusted with your greed and cashing in on a world wide misery YOUR COUNTRY MEN CAUSED

Yes – it seems the evidence is complete that the Chinese are the culprits, the originators of this global debacle and they should “come clean” on the role they’ve played in all this (no pun intended). But who, in the UK, ignored the global consensus on dealing with the pandemic by doing nothing? Next, who advocated a “Herd Immunity” (do nothing) policy? Who did close to zero testing, established not a single quarantine hospital and did zero contact tracing?

When our crowd of elected incompetents finally realised that their “zero” strategy would lead to hundreds of thousands of deaths, health service strangulation and catastrophically collapsing supply chains, they first “requested”, then imposed home curfew measures in a last ditch effort to try to contain the very pandemic that they’d actively encouraged to spread in the first place.

Yes. Blame the Chinese and rightly so. But I’ve got a horrible feeling that by the time this is all over, people will have chosen to ignore the fact that their own government has covered its own lies, deceptions and fabrications in almost exactly the same way that the Chinese government has covered theirs. I can hear them now: “Oh, let’s not start dragging up the past. Everybody makes mistakes; let’s look forward, not back!” Which is exactly why we got into this fucking mess in the first place.

Which could mean that many governments, not just our own, would have had earlier knowledge of the CV-19 outbreak than they're admitting to through their intelligence agencies and, of course, intelligence sharing.

When this shit show first kicked off, allowing people to contract the virus to subsequently gain immunity seemed like a good idea. It worked for me insofar as the 'only' deaths were people with underlying health issues that ostensibly meant they were unlikely to see this year out anyway.* However, when normal healthy people** started popping their clogs, it became apparent that there's something going on with this virus, whether it's mutating or the medical experts were just wrong I don't know, but it now appears to be indiscriminate and it's not selective in who it kills. 21 yer old girl on the weekend and a 13 year old boy yesterday.

The government were slow to get started but I think they're now stepping up to the plate.

Indeed blame the Chinese. A good way to teach the little fuckers would be total sanctions; don't buy their products and developed countries should take production of their goods elsewhere. Apple would be a good start. There's more chance of me biting my own arse than that ever happening but it would certainly give them pause for thought.

*I don't mean that to sound as callous as it might appear.

** I've seen some pictures of people who allegedly had no underlying health issues but I'm not convinced. A woman in her sixties died last week after her and the majority of her close family contracted the virus whilst attending the funeral of her mother (I think). Let's just say their family picture was a satellite photo.

I've said privately for years that China should be completely isolated from the rest of the world. Not only are it's eating and animal welfare habits an absolute disgrace it is also claiming islands in disputed sea territory, building military bases on them and threatening any country that dares to challenge them.

Unfortunately when this is all over a few harsh diplomatic words will be exchanged and life with China will continue as normal as the whole world is dependant on their cheap goods and slave-labour workforce.

It's April. The shit show kicked off, potentially, in November. That's four months of fuck-all done by "the government".

If you took your bike in for a full service and it took four months to get it sorted...

Meanwhile, your mate went to somewhere else and had a complete engine and gearbox overhaul done in a week...

Not the same thing, I know - but deep down...

It’s at least three months, which is no less acceptable. However, looking at the big picture would a Liebour or Lib-Dumb government have done any better? Somehow, I doubt it.

Look at the rest of the world; who, apart from Singapore, has actually done anything of note and dealt with this threat as well as could be hoped for? If our government is somehow culpable, then the vast majority of the world’s governments have just as much to answer for. That would be of little consolation to me if I was in an ICU with a tube down my throat and I couldn’t breathe without assistance, granted, but, apart from Singapore, I can’t think of one single government that can pat themselves on the back for their efforts in containing this shit show.

South Korea. They began testing/identifying/isolating contacts as soon as they identified Covid-19 in their country.
Last time I checked, the daily UK death rate was higher than the South Korean total number of deaths since the epidemic began.

When I talk about "governments", I'm talking about "politicians" - all of them.

None of them are qualified to govern, neither academically nor ethically, morally or philosophically. They're all greedy, self-serving individuals who've developed ways of protecting themselves that mere mortals will never comprehend. I despise them all, but I also despair at the fact that downtrodden, so-called citizens of the world who consider themselves to be under "democratic" rule continue to accept the ways of these bastards, year after year, decade after decade.

For me, the words "If our government is somehow culpable" sums that up all-too effectively.

Stop giving them the benefit of the doubt. They don't deserve your trust because they never earned it.

Housing and communities secretary Robert Jenrick today said there were hopes test capacity would be at 25,000 per day by mid-April.

Last word from me on this today (gotta watch me BP!), but this really does boil my piss. I can’t be arsed checking but I think the South Koreans are testing roughly 120K per day and have been doing so for ages. Same for the Germans. And then I hear the fans of Alexander believe that he’s doing a good job and I think “what’s the fuckin’ point of me trying to…?”

Normally, I’d be out on my bike and you wouldn’t have heard a peep – and that’s the point.

We’re all “I’m alright, Jack”, to some extent.

But as long as I’m alright…

Shameful.

And then my head drops to my chest.

Because I’ve finally realised: I get angry because I’m ashamed of myself.

Just another fucked-up pensioner, I suppose.

It seems Australia is very strickt.
I heard on radio, I think, that when you land there you are escorted to accommodation to stay for 2 weeks.

Just been thinking about this a nit whilst having me lunch (peanut butter Marmite on a toasted bagel :D) and it came to mind that I passed through China at the back of last September. Mrs P and me finished our cruise in Japan and we went off to the airport at Tokyo; she flew home and I went down to Adelaide via Guangzhou. At Guangzhou, it was off the plane and through security before a few hours in the lounge before the red-eye don to Adelaide. The significance never entered my head at the time, but the security at Guangzhou were ALL wearing face masks and gloves. Those of you that have been to the Far East will know that it's not uncommon for an Asian to wear a face mask covering the nose and mouth but I've never seen anything like this before. Ok, I've only been to mainland China twice previously but the security on both occasions were just like at most normal international airports in that they were in uniform and were armed.

I'm now wondering if they knew about this virus as far back as September?

Same for the BA crew in Singapore. Escorted to hotel and the next time they step out is on their way back to the airport.

At the end of November, beginning of December I had to take a few days off work which I put down to flu.

I had a temperature and a racking cough which hurt and made breathing really difficult, also headaches.
I'd never experienced anything like it before, it felt like my ribs were hurting as I coughed.

If it happened now I'd be convinced it was this virus.

But back then apparently it wasn't n the UK ........ Hmmmmm

I may soon get the chance to get tested through work so the result might be interesting.

I've not had any illness since then.

You’re immune now. And probably a Chinese spy. Has your consumption of rice and noodles gone up? Are you now eating with chopsticks?

January, Mrs DA and I developed dry, racking coughs that stayed with us for a couple of weeks.

No temperatures, though, but we're both curious as to where it came from. She's a 20-year NHS veteran.

Had to stop meself driftin' off into a twenty year-old Mrs DA fantasy just then!

In fact... er... ...be back in a few minutes! :D (No - it dunt tek long)
