Yesterday I saw someone wearing nitrile gloves using the complimentary gel at Tesco to clean their gloved hands as they left.
I guess in some circumstances there might be a point, but isn't the point of the gloves to peel them off and dispose of.

The thing about face masks......

If you have not been properly face-fitted for a mask and have a mask capable of filtering down to the size of the virus.....

....they are less than useless, as they give a false sense of security.

Have you seen the bruising on the nurses faces after their long shifts wearing them?

Interesting one that - given an endless supply of gloves of course you are right.

Personally I would use gloves in the manner you described if that was the only choice. It would seem logical that Supermarket trolleys might be a 'high risk' environment for the virus.

But who knows?

My understanding of the mask is to prevent spread, not prevent getting it.
Unless you have a very tight mask you breathe in air around the edge.
I've seen it myself after taking off a mask doing a dusty job. You can see the dust pattern.

As far as I can see the only thing a normal mask will do is stop someone projecting the virus out when they cough, if it were a sealed air fed mask or a proper respirator I can see it being effective on keeping stuff out but not always effective in keeping stuff in + who would want to or even could wear something like that all day?

I honestly think the mask thing is more about allaying peoples fear than being of any real benefit in controlling the virus
